The Elements of Journalism, Revised and Updated 4th Edition: What Newspeople Should Know and the Public Should Expect (2021) Paperback – August 10, 2021

This is an updated version of a venerable and widely-used textbook that makes valuable contributions to both journalists-in-training, as well as consumers of news. I adopted this book for many years and, over the past two years had a handful of students whining that the 4th edition was anti-Trump. Now I'm seeing people bash the book here. The thing is, Trump has tried to marginalize journalism by characterizing it as "the enemy of the people." There is no dispute the man lies. But, even if you repeat something Trump actually said his followers say you're biased against the man. God forbid students might have to read something that challenges their assumptions! This would be hilarious if it wasn't so tragic.

The book arrived quickly and in good condition. We had no problems!

I read this book in college (2008) and wanted to re-visit the role of journalism. Disappointed after 22 pages, as it is anti-Trump. It has also re-defined the role of journalism - without any references or consensus from the journalistic community.Very sad to see this book devolve. I am afraid this is what colleges are teaching to their students.

I'm on page 60...... Their is alot of great information so far, but you have to accept the hatred of Trump by the authors, as it is forced down your throat about every three pages. I wonder If the 3rd edition may be more beneficial than this hit piece, as it was written pre-Trump.
