Q: the antenna is 102 ft., but how long is the ladderline?Is it a direct connect to the 50 ohm coax?

If I remember correctly, the ladder line is about 32 feet long ending in a SO-239 coaxial connector. You take your 50 ohm coax line of your choice and connect to the ladder lines SO-239 connector. and then make 8 to 10 turns at a 6 inch diameter for the balun. Then you just run the rest to your antenna tuner and enjoy.

Q: Balun yes or no? Conflicting answers

I have not used a dedicated Balun on my G5RV installation, yet. I have, however, made an "Ugly Balun" near the antenna feed point by making ten (or so) 6" loops of the feed cable just prior to the Ladder Line. With an antenna tuner in the system, I'm getting very low SWR on 20, 40, and 80 meters. How low? It is so low that the needle barely moved off of zero. Note: I followed the manufacturer's installation instructions to the letter. That matters. Hope this helps.

Q: What frequencies have you been successful with using this (Assuming a tuner is involved)?

Depending on your mounting situation, you should be able to get all or most of 10-80M with a tuner, and it "may" tune on 6M and or 160M as well..

Q: I have read a G5RV is no good on 10 meters. Anybody try it with this one?

The G5RV worked great on 10 meters for me as I only have a Tech license. I made contact all over the USA, France, South America using it and a Yaesu FT-757GX with antenna tuner. I highly recommend this antenna. N4CEA
