Sport Karate Point Sparring: An essential guide to the point fighting method

Purchase to Better Understand (Sport) Karate (Point) Sparring
Very clear overview of sport karate fundamentals and concepts from beginner to intermediate - advanced. Pictures are well laid out, the use of certain tools (like the "Escala Diagram" AKA "the training Asterisk" or the use of a (Kali / Arnis) stick to demonstrate correct distancing, the use of bungee cord(s), et al. are also well explained and pictured. The expressed goal ("to convey universal point sparring concepts that work best in open competition") is well achieved in my estimation by Mr. Yuncza. Though Karate-Do is not my (base) style (Kukki TKD is) I have enjoyed Mr. Yuncza's work greatly as a means to better understand the Karate / Point Sparring game. Much respect for both his generous sharing and the amount of work that has gone into the text. May your path be full of blessings, Ed Yuncza Sensei!

Someone finally wrote a book on this subject!
Someone finally wrote a simple yet effective guide on a given sport. It's not an all-encompassing work on the martial arts in general, nor is it a guide to street self-defense, or even a high-intensity training guide for MMA. It is a complete work on a specific sport - namely point sparring. There might be some who are not fans of the sport and may often ridicule it. But it is still popular in almost every community - and it's nice to have a book written on the subject.

Great resource!
Ed Yuncza shows his many years of experience as both a competitor and instructor--the book is filled with high-quality illustrations accompanied by detailed descriptions of each topic from the basics to more in depth attacks and counters, practice drills and conditioning exercises, and even information on how to introduce new students to the sport. This book serves as a great guide to the world of karate point sparring.

A MUST have reference guide for sparring
A must have reference guide for both beginner and advanced students. Everything covered to make you a successful tournament competitor. The author details training techniques and strategies with great easy to follow photo illustrations. There are lots of books out there on sparring but none that give you the comprehensive view of tournament Karate that this book does.
