how is the width, do they run narrow?

Yes. Too narrow to wear with socks. Sole is very slippery.

Normally a 8.5 or 9 with wide feet, which size?

If you have wide feet I would pass on these. I bought a pair for my daughter and they fit fine in length but they are way too tight in width, and her feet aren't that wide.

I’m a 9.5. What size should I get 9 or 10?

I wear a 9.5, but order a 10. I also bought the cheap Dr. Scholls memory foam insoles and put them in to fill up some of the space because they tend to be a little "deep". When I do this they fit like a glove and are so comfortable.

If I wear 8 1/2-9, which should I order?

It was my experience that these ran small. I normally wear a 6 in most all slip on sneakers but I had to return them for the 6.5. The 6.5 fits perfectly. I’m hoping they won’t stretch out any.
