Very Nice, light easy to use
I bought this hedger over the 24 inch makita model as i didn't think the extra length would make that much difference and was worried about the added weight. I used the difference in price to pick up a 2 pack of non oem batteries that are compatible with the 18v makita system includind the double oem battery charger that came with my 36v string trimmer. 50 bucks for 2.I was coming from a 24 in ego 56 volt that was handed down to me 4 years ago or so. It eventually failed this spring. That was a heavy unit with a large battery back, at least 3 times the weight of this one. As it was older, im not sure how the longevity of that larger battery vs one 18v as this takes. I just used this Makita today and got at least 45 minutes of use. Now it wasnt continuos as use, I was raking my clippings and taking drink breaks. But with the 2 pack will be more than plenty for my hedging needs.Makita obviously is a great brand as you can see from the reviews of most of their products. I'm not a Makita only guy but I chose this as I recently bought the makita string trimmer after struggling to get my stihl 2 stroke started. That trimmer package came with 2 oem 18v batteries and double charger. I probably would have been fine with using those 2 with this instead of buying 2 additional ones, but I intend to share this with family members and didnt want to not be able to string trimmer when this was being borrowed. This unit is very light and easy to use. Very sharp blades out of the box. Comes with a protective sleeve so when not in use prevents getting cut inadvertainly by the teeth.I would be surprised if this didnt last me a good while.

Easy to get the job done!
Great tool for around the house. Lightweight and a very good clipper for hedges and ivy. Makita batteries last a decent amount of power to get the job done quickly. No gas, no power cords, easy to clean.

Makes quick work of shrubs.
If you are in the Makita ecosystem, this makes shrub work easy. I got tired of pulling extend cords all over (heck I installed 4 outlets on the exterior of the house to eliminate huge extension cord runs). I have a few 5ah batteries and this is amazing.

Cordless
After years of using a corded, heavy, 16” trimmer, I decided to try this 22” battery powered trimmer. (I already had other 18V Makita products) What a difference!! It is sharp and powerful. It trims with ease. I don’t have to constantly worry with pulling around or cutting a power cord. A 3.0 ah battery lasts at least an hour of cutting. Very happy with this trimmer.

Great hedge trimmer at a great price
We are pretty deeply invested in LXT stuff, so this was our go-to when we needed a hedge trimmer for light yardwork. At about $100 without the battery, you can't get a better-made product. One of the first things I'd like to impart on any buyer is that you need to buy oil with this. Oil it before first use and after EVERY use. This will keep the blades sharp and will keep them from degrading as quickly.I'm surprised at how quiet and effective it is. We've used it to trim back a number of hedges in our yard and our family's yard and it's about 10x faster than doing it by hand. We like the safety features on it as well. Cannot recommend this enough.

Impressed my skepticism
It's was skeptical about... Everything... On a wireless trimmer. I've been burned in the past but like most us I'm on the Makita battery train and have to say this completely impressed me.I used a 5amp battery for over an hour and all 4 bars were still lit. The power was great, the blades are new obviously but sharp. Went like butter. Branches up to ~3/4 inch were no problem, but obviously not ideal. The double safety handle was very comfortable. There's little to no vibration so it doesn't fatigue my wrists, and it was maneuverable despite the long blade. I honestly thought I'd be returning this but I like it a lot and it runs circles around my old corded unit. Not that the tool did it, but I even got compliments on my trimming skills from a landscaper.I've been burned on cordless trimmers before and I don't love the Makita weedeater so I was definitely holding my breath - but after a couple days of usage I have to say I don't regret this purchase at all and can easily recommend this unit.I hope it stays that way. I'm also glad to see it come with a sheath for the blades. That's a nice touch for storage. The only real con I can think of is that it's so light compared to what I'm used to, it would be easy to swing back and cut myself or someone nearby without proper caution.

Great Find!
I have a lot of shrubs and hedges. 2 years ago I purchased the Makita Hedge Trimmer that attached to the 36V Shaft Tool. That Trimmer is great but Heavy and Cumbersome to use.Recently I purchased this little 18V Trimmer and am very impressed that it did all the light trimming I was wanting to achieve. I worked pretty steadily for about 4 hours and barely used up 2) 5.0 batteries.I also had some oval manicuring to do with small boxwoods and did better than the landscapers I used to pay to do it.OVERALL, 5 Stars. The only negative, this trimmer was a bit challenged on one shrub where I had to go into mature branches that were over a 1/4”.
