Gets It Done
I was skeptical about a small wedge like this, but that was quickly replaced with surprise. This little wedge plowed through 15 logs. With a 5 lb hammer and 4-5 swings max it split logs easily.Very pleased and much more portable than a full size axe.

Easy to use
This thing is awesome! Worth every penny on the harder stuff. I have found it easy to use and will get it started in a piece and let my kids finish it through. My 6 year old finds it easy to use and fun. It's heavy in a very good way. Splits easily and doesn't get stuck at the bottom without actually busting the round.

does the job
I've been using this wedge for a few years. It does what it claims. (Unsurprising considering the name on it.) I still use other, plain wedges as well, because where I live, the wood we have, often one split takes 2 or even 3 wedges. Here's the thing: I use a Fiskars splitting maul and an old-fashioned, heavy, all-steel wide-head splitting maul. When they can do the job, I don't need a wedge. When I need a wedge, I find I reach for one of the plain wedges rather than this Estwing wedge first, and if that doesn't do the trick, add the Estwing. The Estwing does add a little spread, does split logs the others can't quite, but it's cumbersome; getting that little extra spread takes a little extra effort. That's not criticism, it's physics. No free lunch. I'm glad I have it in my split kit, but my experience is that its benefit is small compared to traditional steel wedges, while being a little more expensive and a little more hassle. Worth the difference? I'm not sure it is. As an additional tool, sure, but if I only had one wedge and one wedge were always enough, I don't think it would be this one.

This works great!
So this maybe should be a little wider at the top because there are moments I thought this was going to be stuck forever... but for the most part... this thing is amazing!!! It really does work great. 5-STARS I'm very happy.splitting logs approx 2 to 3+ ft diameter about 10 ft circumference. Height about 2 to 2 1/2+ ft

Works Well
The wedge splits logs well. The tabs near the top keep the wedge from getting stuck in greener wood and aids in splitting the log. The only negative is the paint when struck gives off an odd odor. That should diminish over time as the paint slowly comes off as the wedge is struck.

Impossible to start. Bounces out of Maple hardwood on every hit
I bought a Milwaukee 18V Hack Chainsaw which has just an 8" bar. I use the tool to create a slot to place the wedge which works perfectly with my old wedge. Even with the slot, I could not get the Estwing wedge to engage. It kept bounding out after every hit. The bottom width of the wedge is too wide. What the wedge is good for is as a second wedge on a larger 3' dia round, or after a wide split has started. So I give it 3 stars as a SECOND wedge to help open the split created by a different first wedge on larger rounds. Knowing Estwing, I'm sure the wedge is forged well.
