Zatarain's Concentrated Shrimp & Crab Boil, 8 fl oz (Pack of 12)

A slug of this stuff into any seafood boil is important, I think. I have a pony-keg boiler I got years ago that will accommodate 12 king crab halves and I add a full 8oz jug of this along with the salt (1 cup) and some lemons to cook them. That's a LOT of crab and limits are much stricter that previously so I haven't done a full load for years but you get the proportions.

I purchased this for a crawfish boil I was throwing. I have a special method where I only need a small amount of it in each boil (I use a powder boil for the main seasoning, then throw this in after the flame is out). The product itself is tried and true and very good. The unfortunate thing is I only went through half a bottle at my boil, as expected. Ultimately, it was the right choice as it was the cheapest pack, but if they sold this at stores locally, I would have picked it up there. A word of caution to those who have not used this before. It is POTENT! You won't need much. Remember, it's easier to start with a little then add more than it is to start with a lot then...have to cook more food ;-).

This product is great. I've used it for years and it's my favorite seasoning for boiling fresh seafood--way better and more convenient than others. I live in a fairly remote place and couldn't find it local, so I was pleased to see it offered for a reasonable price. That said, a little of this product goes a long way, and it will take quite a while to go through six bottles. When received from carrier, one of the bottles had leaked, and soaked all of the labels off, which sort of ruined the idea to giving some away to friends as gifts. Harder to get people to try it if it's just some plain bottle of "stuff" with no labeling.

They are delivered fast but they never have the right amounts of liquid in them.

This is a great addition to almost anything you boil. I add it to the water when boiling hotdogs, corn-on-the-cog, potatoes, shrimp, etc. I even add a few drops when cooking instant mashed potatoes. Never tried it with pasta but that don't sound good. Use it sparingly; a little goes a long way. You will know pretty quickly if too much was added. If you put too much into boiling water you will feel like you've been tear gassed.
