Heavy Duty 16” tong made in India. It doesn’t have the match to keep it closed but I don’t mind since this is a heavy duty set of old school tongs and that is what I was looking for.

Heavy Duty but….
So I’ve been interested in trying Vollrath products for awhile. This is my first purchase.First impression: it’s heavy duty.Second impression: “Wow! It really doesn’t have a locking mechanism.”It’s open about 6” at its widest and 16” long.Not sure how I’m going to like it as I use them, but I think 6” should be enough to pick most things up. But without ever using them, I know I already hate that I cannot lock them - unless, of course, I use rubber bands.

Great quality
just like restaurants I worked in. Great quality that will last for a long time unlike cheap Chinese versions that the stamped metal will cut you.

Nice -- unless you want to store them in your kitchen drawer
I bought two of these for use for a large picnic-type event in May. My grandson and I are responsible for grilling HUNDREDS of hot dogs. It's a mass-production process, with a dozen or more hot dogs being turned and moved at the same time. These were advertised as being 'Heavy Duty', and indeed they are. They have a nice, solid feel.It'd be better if they had a mechanism to keep them closed when not in use, but that's too much to expect at this price. Rubber bands solve that. If I were going to use tham on an everyday basis and store them in a kitchen drawer, I'd ones that closed and locked shut.I haven't used them yet, and won't until the end of May, but they seem to perfect for the job. Should there be a problem with them -- which I simply don't expect -- I'll update this review appropriately.

Professional build quality and feel
I am a professional cook and these are the tongs I have used everyday for about 10 years. Will not buy anything else. These last around 2+ years before the spring breaks (I probably flex them on average 100 to 400 times a day depending on business). Cheaper tongs might last me 6 months. These are far better to use at home than those awful giant one piece bbq set tongs that they sell at every store that sells grills. Don't waste your money; buy these and a professional style spatula and that is all you need for 95 percent of your grilling needs.

What’s up?
The post was for 16” tongs. Twice I ordered and twice I received 7” tongs. Am I missing something? I returned first order.
