Jess Franco's Angel Of Death
A**E
Most misleading description of the actual content I've seen in years.
This is most worst exploitation film I've ever seen due to ZERO exploitation content. There is no "torture" no "jungle" or anything else described from Amazon's editorial review. I feel like asking for a refund based on false advertising. This could be shown on network TV "uncut"; that's how tame it is.The transfer is excellent, but no idea why this title was chosen to release. One star is too high, but as low the ratings system allows. Stay far away!!!!!

Extremely low budget reck
I never saw this movie before and I bought it because I usually like B action movies. However, this one was sub par even by low budget B movie standards. The plot sounds like there would be some excitement to be had here. Dr. Josef Mengele is hiding in a South American country and experimenting with people/animals (like Island of Dr. Moreau) as well as plotting to take over several South American countries and create a 4th Reich. However, it is ridiculously stupid in execution. The Dr. resides in a large compound outside of a city and his guards all stand around wearing blue jean pants with shirts with arm bands bearing 4R (4th Reich), carrying submachine guns in full view of anyone driving by the compound. The Dr. also has a helicopter bearing a huge 4R marking because he doesn't care about being inconspicuous to Nazi hunters or anyone else that hates Nazis. If anyone gets to close to the compound they send out the helicopter and a guard with a submachine gun to kill them in broad daylight, obviously because they want to keep a low profile and keep their identities as Nazis a secret from the public.Oh, and back to the "Island of Dr. Moreau" nonsense, that is nothing more than a room in the house that has several beds with a chimpanzee sitting on top of one bed, the next bed with a man with a fake thick unibrow and fake hairy arms, and another bed with another man with similar lame attempts at trying and failing to appear as human experiments. This room is shown several times throughout the movie and the monkey and men never move from their beds, which by the way, have super clean white sheets. There is no depiction of any experimentation in the entire movie. Just the lame room with lame attempts to depict them as experiments. And the special effects are so bad that a scene where the helicopter is blown out of the sky is excruciatingly laughable. One of the band of about 6 men that haphazardly plan to attack the compound, is carrying a small/mini version of a military mortar. He sets it up and drops in obviously plastic toy looking miniature mortar shells. You hear a puny sounding "tink" sound effect without any smoke or anything and an explosion occurs downrange. The mortar guy drops a plastic toy mortar in, "tink," and then the helicopter blows up. However the explosion is so bad it's obvious that they had a cardboard box hanging in the air explode in a cheesy fireball. You can see a square cardboard backing still suspended in the air by a wire, right after the explosion. And, as for Dr. Mengele, he doesn't look anything like the Mengele pictured in the cover art. He doesn't have a moustache and looks nothing like the picture. The movie is pure garbage. I've seen other Franco movies and this has to be the worst one ever. Don' waste your time or money on this dreck like I did.

Not as bad as people make it out to be
This is a collaboration between jess franco and Andrea Bianchi released by eurocine in France. I thought it was a cool film. With all the regular European film actors like Antonio Mayan and Jack Taylor and Howard Vernon.
