Q: Does it come with a string?

Sorry no! DP Soaker comes in two sizes only s/m and L/ex! This has been an issue sometimes for us and our customers.

NAT is the designation for the color. This hat is the Dorfman Pacific 948OS "The Remarkable Soaker" and it comes in 4 colors: Grey, Mushroom, Natural, Tan. "NAT" designates that it is the Natural color version of the hat. I do not know what the 3 would be for. Our hats in our shop do not show a number next to the designation like that and I don't see one in the catalog either.

Q: Wash in machine warm water detergent????

This hat is made to take water! Hand wash in warm water and rinse. Air dry no dryer! CG

Q: What happens when the hat gets wet? Does it lose form?

It does not lose its form when it gets wet. In fact, I believe it's in the category of soaker hats which means one can soak it in water and wear it on a hot day relying on the evaporation to keep your head cool.
