Awesome Beginner/Student Violin
The media could not be loaded. After reading all the negative reviews for cheaper electric violins, I ordered my instrument from an actual violin store. My choice was the Bunnel Next Electric Violin (color - honey). This is a great violin to go along with my Yamaha student violin and much lighter. Though purchased from Amazon, the violin package shipped from the Kennedy Violins store. The instrument came with a checklist, was professionally setup, and ready to play out of the box. The full-size violin was light and comfortable to play. I used my Everest shoulder rest at 3/4 setting to fit the shape of the body. While not a silent violin, the sound unplugged, is a lot quieter than my acoustic Yamaha. There are sliding controls for “high”, “low” and “volume”. There are inputs for headphones (1/8”) and for the amp (1/4”). The bow is comparable to the bow that came with my Yamaha in balance & weight. The mini amp is adequate for practice or recording videos (which I do for YouTube). The Portland soft case is high quality and fit/protects the violin perfectly. Extra strings are included and the rosin is excellent quality. All in all, I am very satisfied with my purchase as I continue on my violin journey!

One of the best deals I've ever found on Amazon, 10/10!
I started playing violin at about 7 years old and played right through college. After that, it sort of 'dropped off' for me/ consecutive years of living in multi-family buildings after college.About a year ago, I started to really miss playing/never realizing how it was able to instantly put me into a Zen-like zone, immediate mindfulness. But...multi-family living. So, I searched for a good compromise solution and found this electric violin.Firstly, it feels very similar to an acoustic violin.Volume-wise, it is slightly less than a muted acoustic violin. Not louder than a TV. I still wouldn't play this after 8pm or before 8am where I live. With the included headphones, the violin sounds VERY similar (volume-wise) to an acoustic violin.I've played acoustic violins valued in the 10k-20k range. This violin does not have the depth and richness and warmth of that type of violin. However, I've also played acoustic violins valued in the 1k range--this electric violin has very similar tones/depth/warmth to that. So at $389, you are definitely getting your money's worth (the case and bow alone are probably worth at least $200, both are nice).I highly recommend this violin (especially if you live in situations where you might need to practice at lower volume levels)!

Heavier than I had hoped
The build quality is great and the service is excellent. My complaint is the weight. I had to return because with the electronics needed plus battery, it really led to a situation that was not comfortable or doable for me. As an older adult now, unfortunately it makes a difference. If you don’t care about this, check it out. I have no complaints about the quality of the piece/sound and service.

Great violin at a great price
This violin has been amazing for me to learn on. I've bought cheap violins before that won't stay tuned and sound awful, but this one is nothing like that. The case is very nice. The shape of the violin is a bit tricky to get the shoulder rest to stay on, but I think that's because I bought a really cheap shoulder rest. It isn't as quiet as I hoped for with no Amp or headphones, but I think that is because it is fairly high quality for its price. It's a joy to play on, I'd highly recommend for beginners.

... I should've known the amp wasn't going to sound great. The violin is heavy
I mean I guess I should've known the amp wasn't going to sound great. The violin is heavy, like other people said. It's just a little bit of a letdown, the d and g strings are super-fuzzy even on low volume.

Excellent Value for Cost !!
I purchased the "Natural" colored version and this a awesome looking instrument! It came practically ready to play and sounds great. The Care and attention to detail that Kennedy Violins used when setting up the violin and putting together the package was obvious. After Tuning the violin and removing the giving some attention to the 9 volt batteries (in violin and the mini-amp) I was practicing as I normally would with my acoustic violin.Great Job.

Lots of problems in quality control.
The first one of these I got, there were several large cracks in the body of the violin. I sent pictures, and Kennedy was quick to send me a brand new instrument since it was still under the 1 year warranty. The second violin was crack free, but they sent a different color, which wasn’t a problem for me. The pegs were slipping and it couldn’t hold a tune because, I thought, the endpin started sliding out at an alarming angle, so I contacted their customer service about it. They said it was a humidity issue and gave me instructions to fix it myself. I followed the instructions, but the hole was too large and the endpin sat at an angle. They have a video for help with slipping pegs, which I find interesting. I’ve never had peg slipping issues on any of my violins except Kennedy, but their method did work. They sent me a third replacement instrument, and the body construction was fine, but the tone/volume box was loose in its compartment and is causing buzzing and rattling. If all of their instruments behave like this, I would be very cautious buying from Kennedy again. The customer service was always helpful, and I’m thankful for their warranty; you might need it.

Good value for an beginner’s electric violin
I played violin as a child and recently started thinking about relearning it. After looking at a what was available, I decided to get this one. It was well in my desired price range and has the advantage of already having a pickup in it if I ever need to have it amplified in the future plus some accessories included. Being a clearance model there are some cosmetic flaws but otherwise the instrument sounds good (considering my limited playing ability at this time) and came set up perfectly by Kennedy Violins. Unplugged, with it’s small sound holes, it is softer than a normal acoustic violin but loud enough for you to hear it when you play without headphones. It also has a headphone jack which can be used, although it appears to be mono because I only heard it in one ear. Through an amplifier, it sounds good as well.
