Perfect globrite replacement
Used a $25 adaptor off Amazon and this light to replace a globrite - works great so far fingers crossed it holds up longer than the globrite.

Low quality led Petair pool light
I spent $600 for this high end led light. Lasted 1 year!!! Wast of money. Thought I bought the warranty but I messed up. Amazon should not sell bad items like this. The warranty was for 30 days. I am very disappointed in this pool light. Item was professionally installed as per the directions. Poor quality. This was a terrible value and again disappointed in the $600 spent. Pentair LED pool lights are trash and expensive trash at that.

The 1.5" adapter ring was GLUED in place - REWORK REQUIRED for Globrite Replacement
I bought this light and a Microbrite to Globrite adapter for my pool. My burned out Pentair Globrite light lasted 3 years ... not happy. Anyway the Microbrite is supposed to be improved. It's smaller and requires an adapter. Sounds easy. What I thought would be easy turned out to be a little more complex. The 1.5" threaded adapter ring (The white donut under the light face in the picture) was G L U E D on the light out of the box. It is not required for the replacement I was doing, only if you want to spin the light in a 1.5" female pool niche. The instructions show the 1.5" threaded ring to be separate and can be installed with an o-ring for a sealed conduit if needed. I had to use a dremmel tool to carefully cut thru the ring in 3 places and remove chunks with pliers. I dressed the light body to remove old glue and slipped my Globrite adapter on with no problems. Getting the ring off was a pain. Why they glued it on when they show it as a seperate part to be used if needed is beyond me. Next review will be about the light longevity.

Good but very expensive
I installed these in place of the Pentair GloBrites, which had developed cracks and leaks after 8 years. With the adapter for the GloBrite niche, these fit fine. They are rated for lower brightness than the GloBrites, but this was not that noticeable in my application. Only time will tell if these last longer. The reason the rating is not 5 stars is the price - very expensive for what you get! But I have read reviews of the cheap off brand replacements and some have failed and caused damage to the niche, so I was not willing to take that risk.

Easy to install .. very bright
Was replacing my old globrite in a 10X10 spa/pool The unit needed an adapter to retrofit the new lighr (should have been included in my opinion) .. but that aside the unit was easy to install and worked with existing equipment

Junk… and service was disappointing.
My pool and Pentair lights were ~3yrs old when they started failing (coincidentally just out of warranty). By 3 1/2, 5 out of 8 lights had failed. Transformer/power supply is fine. These $500 75k hour LED lights are junk. They were all visibly burned up inside. Emailed Pentair with pics, zero support. These things can’t cost more than 25-30$ to make… and that’s for the wire. I was told Pentair was top of the line in pool equipment… nah.

Test before installing.
TEST BEFORE INSTALLING!! I spent two hours removing the old Pentair globate and installing this new Microbrite. Then discovered it was defective and would not light. I hate to give it 3 stars when it may be just a fluke, however it doesn't work and I have to do all of the labor for a difficult location all over again :( Hopefully the replacement will be good. If so, I will review it positively. UPDATE: Second light I received as a replacement is installed now and working just fine. I did notice that if you are using these to slowly replace the Globrites in your pool that these change color at just slightly different times as the Globrites. Not a big deal at all though.

Back in 2014 we installed an inground fibreglass pool and illuminated it with Pentair GloBrites. The vibrant colour from these LEDs highlights the glass resin and creates a magical scene. Unfortunately, the product themselves are prone to a high failure rate. As of 2025, we have gone through 3 sets at over $1500 per set. The first set was covered under warranty, unfortunately the next sets weren’t. I’m also fortunate that I can change the lights myself so we’re able to save on labour but it is still a huge investment for 2 lights. This spring we unwrapped the pool after its winter slumber and found that another GloBrite had failed. Shocked? No. Disappointed, yes. I researched replacements and have heard relatively good things about the Pentair MicroBrites. I purchased two new MicroBrites as well as the corresponding adapters to fit MicroBrites in to a GloBrite housing. The parts are: “Pentair Adapter Microbrite To Globrite – 618040” and “Pentair EC-620425 MicroBrite Color LED Light 100′”. For anyone worried if there’s a noticeable difference if you mix-and-match the GloBrites with the MicroBrites, there isn’t. Physically the lights are smaller and the power cable is thinner, but the output matches the GloBrites. I took this picture to show the similarities between the two when using a fixed colour. I did not run a colour-swim.
