Gena Showalter è una scrittrice eccezionale, come se ne leggono pochissimi ai giorni d'oggi. sarcastica, ironica, ti tiene con il fiato sospeso fino all'ultimo.

Ruthless and vicious...yet hilarious
Review by Cassandra from Book TalkAva Sans grew up on the poor and meanest streets of New Chicago. She was left with only two options: be the predator or the prey. There was no contest. Now Ava works for Alien Investigation and Removal, and she's been ordered to capture the biggest and baddest warrior of all. McKell is a vampire that is too beautiful to be real, who also has the ability to manipulate time. He was once the leader of the entire vampire army, but is now considered unstable and savage while being spurned by his own kind. McKell deems humans to be nothing more than food, yet when he meets petite, golden-skinned Ava he starts to reconsider his stance. She is not only gorgeous but vicious, witty, strong, vulnerable, lethal, and loyal. Against his own judgment, McKell craves Ava's loyalty and everything else. When the chase leads to seduction, McKell and Ava race to discover the truth about his past, yet the answers will come at a price. A price that can affect the woman who thought she had nothing left to lose.I loved this book! Ava is hilarious and lethal. Especially when you pair her with her best friend Noelle. Together these girls are fascinating. I love the interaction. When McKell comes into the picture it gets even better. He is one very possessive vampire and he has claimed Ava as his own. Ava will not allow herself to belong to anyone, especially someone who believes her to be beneath him. The relationship between these two turns very hot but also leaves you laughing at some points. Ava and McKell are both ruthless and do not care about the consequences when it comes to the people they care about. McKell's past plays a major part in their relationship. Both Ava and McKell have a lot to learn when it comes to caring for someone in a relationship and both stumble and fall many times. It's a great thing to witness. The Scion queen is also causing her own amount of trouble. Dallas seems to be the only link to averting disaster but it comes at a high price. She is determined to take down one of the A.I.R couples, but which one will it be? This is another of my favorite books of this series and it doesn't disappoint this reader! Warning: adult content and violence.

Lots of fun
Ava and Noelle are agents in training for AIR, a team that protects humans from those aliens living on earth that are a threat. The biggest threat lately have been aliens, the Schön, that are spreading a deadly disease - and their queen is on her way to earth to make it her new home and herself its new ruler. Someone who might be able to help is McKell, a vampire who has been banished from the vampires' underground realm. He is brutal and ruthless - traits that Ava can appreciate since she is tough and brutal herself. When she and Noelle are told to bring the vampire to AIR, sparks fly - and Ava and McKell soon give in to their mutual attraction. But there's still the Schön-queen, who has started targetting AIR-agents...This novel was very entertaining, with a biting sense of humour that reminded me of Shelly Laurenston. I enjoyed it a lot. It is part of the Alien Huntress-series and makes more sense if you've read the other parts first. They are (so far):1. Awaken Me Darkly (2005)2. Enslave Me Sweetly (2006)3. Savor Me Slowly (2007)4. Tempt Me Eternally (2009) (in Deep Kiss of Winter, anthology)5. Seduce the Darkness (2009)6. Ecstasy in Darkness (2010)7. Dark Taste of Rapture (2011)

Romantic escapism, & a guanteed read
I like my dark urban fantasy, but it is authors like this one, that have me turning to & enjoying the paranormal romantic fantasy genre as well. I'd say Gena Showalter is in the same league as Kresley Cole (Immortals After Dark Series).I don't really want to give any spoilers, just know that it is entertaining, funny, sensual & a damn good read. This is Book five in the Alien Huntress series, and we follow sassy, violent, loyal, A.I.R trainee agent Ava Sans who is sent on a mission to bring back to headquarters Mckell an arrogant, supremely smug, powerful vampire who can manipulate time, who makes other vampires run from him & other A.I.R agents who have gone after him, half lose their minds & the digits of their fingers, he is deemed a threat, but also could possibly be the solution to a horrible alien virus that kills all who come in contact with it.I loved the characters, interactions, humour, misunderstandings & how the tiny female that is Ava brings the best out of Mckell, he is pretty stupid in regard to how to treat people, & makes assumptions that get him into a whole heap of trouble & as you can imagine, Ava soon sets him straight. The story flows from one page to another, catching up with Dallas & Mia, being introduced to other subtle character threads. Can't wait to see what happens with Ava's Amazonian friend Noelle. A real treat, if you like this type of genre.Great romantic esacpism, at it's best.....the chemistry between the two main protagonists, makes this a memorable read. - Enjoy....
