Aside from the water we add, what is in the watermelon ball? If it splits due to age and weather what will I have in my pool?

I can’t tell you for sure, but when I got it it appeared to be a flat, thick rubber walled, ball. I used the attachment that came with it to fill with water and it was ready. I left it floating in my pool most of the summe with full sun and it didn’t seem to weather much. The Chlorine kinda bleached it a bit but I’ve never come across anything that chlorine doesn’t bleach

Can you drain the ball after it's filled? How difficult is it to drain and refill?

It is a bit difficult, but not impossible, to remove water from a Watermelon Ball™. You may not be able to remove all the water; however, you can remove most of it. It is recommended that you do this outdoors. Insert a fill needle into the ball and allow the water to drain. Avoid making contact with the water as it may have an unpleasant odour. You will need to apply a significant amount of pressure to the ball to remove the water. You can do this by setting a weight on the ball or standing on the ball. Make sure you support yourself well if you stand on the ball. Apply pressure to the ball until the water is drained. This may take 5 to 10 minutes.

Do I need to periodically refresh the water? or can water I used to originally fill stay in their indefinitely?

Ball floated for about a month. Then sank and will not float. Any suggestions?

It is not supposed to float. It is filled with water and just enough air to keep it below the surface. Ours has literally been in our pool for 5 years and has not been removed. It makes it’s way to the bottom and just hangs out there until we are ready to play with it. It has been in the pool so long that the black stripes have completely faded. We have come up with lots of games using it and it is one of the most used water toys all season.
