Tom's of Maine Wicked Cool Deodorant for Boys Freestyle 2.25 Oz (Pack of 3)

So I'm a big fan of products that try to minimize any of the suspect or questionable ingredients often found in a lot of mainstream products...and deodorant is no different!Have been happy with Tom's deodorant for several years though I've been through a couple of their offerings. Initially I got started using their Mountain Spring scent. It seemed to do the trick. But I had to apply many many times on each side in order to feel like I had a decent layer of odor protection. And even then on some days for some reason the Mountain Spring scent when combined with your odor gave off this kind of strange combination of good and bad smells.Then I came across the "Clean Confidence" scent which in my opinion is an upgrade from "Mountain Spring" simply in that it suffers less from giving you a funny smell that's somewhere between good-smelling and funky, over time. Yet you still have to apply a lot like with Mountain Spring (at least that's just how I feel it's effective).Next in this journey of Tom's deodorant discovery was the "Deep Forest" scent. In terms of where it ranks among Mountain Spring and Clean Confidence...I'd say it's about tied with Clean Confidence in effectiveness though I kind of like the Deep Forest scent better.Ok so let's finally get to this actual product I'm reviewing, "Wicked Cool"...for boys. I'm in my 30's...and yet I was lucky enough to stumble across this version of the deodorant because it came as a free add-on from Amazon I guess cause I ordered a lot? Not really sure!The "Wicked Cool" deodorant to me is the best option so far because it has a different texture and composition that allows you to get more layers on with less applications. And so, for comparison, let's say with all the other scents I had to do 5-10 swipes (depending on my natural body rhythms) on each side in order to feel like it formed a solid layer plus smelled good. With "Wicked Cool" I feel like 3 swipes per side is enough. 4-5 even feels like too much! And the scent is pleasant and so far seems to last without leaving me in that strange in-between good/bad smelling phase (unless the entire day has gone by and it's close to bedtime, etc).Your mileage may vary but I'm very happy with it. Have only been using this for several months but hopefully the results will continue. If not, I'll be sure to update this review accordingly!

Bought Toms for my Grandson, works well, smells fresh

I bought this for a pre teen boy who needs deodorant, but I didn't want him to use a deodorant with a lot of chemicals in it. This does the job well. The only complaint I have is it melts so easily, so I have had to scoop it out of the top, and put it back where it belongs. Then, refrigerate to get it back to properly solid, but that was a minor inconvenience. It lasts forever. I will buy again.

My son is 11 and has been using this product for a year and a half now. It smells nice and works well for him. My only complaint is the consistency. It’s a very wet feeling. He left it in his backpack for a day or 2 and it seemed to melt and make a bit of a mess.

This product works great for my 5-year-old! I wanted to find something that wasn’t too strong for him and this is great! It smells great and lasts all day long! Would definitely recommend!

Tom’s of Maine makes other deodorants I like so when I saw this on sale I tried it. It works well and smells good. A few observations from this ancient physician who has been using, and advising patients on the use of, deodorants for over 40 years:A) “Deodorants” are supposed to make bad smells from people’s armpits...well, either go away or more tolerable. Bad smells on and in people are caused (for the most part) by bacteria. This product works as advertised for me. Teenage boys are full of testosterone (duh). Interestingly, testosterone encourages the growth of some bacteria. You may have notice the stinky socks, acne (bacteria in the skin) and bad armpits arriving close together? This product may or may not be adequate for your specific child. This is especially true if he has recently had to start shaving twice a day or the Dept. Of Defense has been asking you to donate his sweat socks “to science,”B) “Antiperspirants” are used to treat sweating. The usual chemical used to reduce sweating is an aluminun compound. Look for that word listed in the ingredients. Here’s the catch though! While aluminun compounds reduce sweating, they are most commonly the culprit in allergic reactions. It took me 20 years to become allergic but I had to stop using “antiperspirants when I was 35 years old. One of my college friends developed the allergy in high school! Both stories are common.C) My personal observation is that this “Wicked Cool” product should be used in much smaller amounts than other deodorants. My usual “three swipes of each pit ought to do it” causes me to look like I have rabies of the armpits! After three swipes and a minute or two, I have to get a Kleenex for the exuberant (but refreshing and sweet smelling!) white foamy froth. I now use one to two light strokes.I hope this helps.Update - 26Jun18: After using for a few months, I have to agree with a previous reviewer; it seems less effective than the adult products. I like the smell, I don't like the foamy lather and I still use it occasionally but rely more on other Tom's products.

Love that this deoderant is gentle for my young son! He is 9 now and been using it for 2 years. Our local stores must forget that younger people sometimes need deoderant too. The stuff they sell has a ph that is entirely too strong for sensitive skin.

I purchased this 3-pack and it arrived in a bubble mailer. The 3-pack was inside another plastic bag and it was all melted and leaking out of the bag. The smell was very strong and unpleasant and my hand was covered in this liquid when I pulled the item out of the bubble mailer. This was not what I was expecting to receive, disappointed.
