is it hard plastic or is it like squishy too?/

is it good for seniors

I think they can be used for seniors to keep their fingers nimble and hands moving. Unlike kids or adolescents I would not expect them to be able to take the pieces apart and redesign them. I use them mostly with individuals who have anxiety and need to be doing something with their hands when talking or thinking about difficult situations. Given that, I think any senior might enjoy manipulating the Tangle and feeling it's texture. Good Luck.

How do you use it? It doesn't seem to do anything for my anxiety

I place it in one of my hands and move it around with my fingers/palm. As it moves around I'm able to stretch my fingers and the palm of my hand. I have anxiety too, so when I use it I focus on the flow and movements of the Tangle. I hope this helps.
