I had 2 small Totes umbrellas - Totes Elements and Totes Titan CompactAnd a big one - Totes Super Strong.I managed to leave on a bench in the city center, park and somewhere else all three one after another.So it was time to buy another Totes Titan Compact and I will explain you why..."Totes Super Strong" was a big real hardcore umbrella, quite heavy though and destined to be lost due to tired hands. "Totes Titan Compact" presents a more compact version of it without any sacrifices and targeted against stormy weather, heavy rains, intense November winds etc."Totes Titan Compact" version represents a more solid build, reinforced ribs, but the same size and shape as Elements, slightly heavier and thicker. The only difference is Elements is thinner, lighter, smaller. They are like 2 brothers - once tough and sturdy for stormy, windy aggressive times, the other is for regular mild rains. Both complement each other in important mission - keeping you dry through the day. Particular nuance of the Totes umbrellas is when you leave it at the door, it is dries in 5-10 minutes, while other umbrellas are soaking like swamp for 30 min or more.Totes Titan Super Strong - large, long, heavy, for big tall athletic men, does not fit rucksacksTotes Titan Compact - you get the same as Super Strong but in a compact shapeTotes Elements - smallest, lightest, cheapest, most compact urban umbrella for regular rainsA combination of words "Titan" and "Compact" is a winning formula.I stopped buying other "no name" brands in comparison with "Totes", because those blurry brands under-deliver quality in too many ways. Have bought this particular model three times over the last few years. That is only because I have lost them, not because of quality or wear and tear. It has the perfect portability-to-coverage ratio, is very well constructed, sheds water effectively so never damp after folding, resists even heavy wind, opens and closes quickly and smoothly, and even after a year of use, folds neatly and looks like it did when it was in the package. Be sure to get the “Titan” with the silver, dimpled handle. It has the best feel and stability in the hand and the best open/close mechanism. I also consider it urban-chic style-wise. An actual perfect product - readily apparent after using countless other portable umbrella options!

I have used this for rain, sun and to block the wind at the beach. It is a little beast. The first one I had was lost so I had to search here for this and and I am happy to see it matches my old one. I had a different replacement at first and it was not as sturdy or well constructed. Glad they still make this quality model.

I'll keep it because it feels like a solid umbrella with being wind resistant. But it is heavier and longer. I had a Tote before that fit nicely in my purse when the prediction was for a rainy day. But it wasn't wind resistant and bit the dust. Totes are superior to other brands that I've tried. They didn't last a year.

I purchased this umbrella specifically to keep in my truck. It is the perfect size to store under the rear seat compartment. The umbrella comes with a fabric storage sleeve. I especially like the handle because it is large and easily fits my hand. It opens with the push of a button on the handle. You have to push it to fully extend the umbrella until it clicks in place. I have only used it once since I have had it. It was raining with a moderate rain. It was a quarter mile walk but the Totes worked just fine. It is wide enough to keep the upper body dry in a downpour. However no umbrella is indestructible if a sudden stiff gust of wind gets under the umbrella. My umbrella was black. I did not encounter any problems using the strap. I gently wrapped the folds of the umbrella in the direction of the Velcro strap closure and it works perfectly each time.So far I am satisfied with my Totes. I would recommend it to others.

They said it withstands winds up to 70 mph. I had a previous umbrella that said that, but it did not work! The previous umbrella I had from Macy's would open and close, but was very hard to push in and one day after coming home out of the rain, I threw it down the trash chute! I will respond again after using this Totes for a while. UPDATE: I USED THE UMBRELLA FOR THE FIRST TIME YESTERDAY. IT IS A DECENT SIZE, BUT IT DOES NOT LOOK STRONG AND I AM SURE IT CANNOT STAND STRONG WINDS BECAUSE AN EARLIER BOUGHT UMBRELLA, WHICH WAS STRONGER, COULD NOT STAND THE WIND. ALSO, OPEN AND CLOSE UMBRELLAS ARE NOT GOOD FOR SENIORS OR SOMEONE WHO IS WEAK IN THE ARMS BECAUSE IT IS ALSO HARD TO PUSH IN. AND, YOU HAVE TO PUSH IT IN BEFORE YOU CAN MAKE IT GO UP AGAIN BECAUSE I TRIED IT YESTERDAY. I CLOSE BY PUSHING HANDLE INTO CHEST OR WITH BOTH HANDS IF I AM NOT CARRYING ANYTHING. I DON'T LIKE TO CARRY AROUND LONGER UMBRELLAS, SO I HAVE TO PUT UP WITH THESE SMALLER ONES. WHEN I THINK ABOUT IT, THEY USED TO SELL UMBRELLAS THAT WERE A LITTLE LONGER, LARGER AND STRONGER. I WILL HAVE TO LOOK FOR ONE OF THOSE. MY MOTHER HAS A "DUCK" FACED ONE, WHICH IS LARGER THAN THIS ONE. SO, I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS UMBRELLA FOR STRONG WINDS! FINALLY, AFTER USING UMBRELLA AGAIN, I WILL HAVE TO LOOK FOR A LONG AND BIGGER UMBRELLA. I WAS GETTING VERY WET TODAY BECAUSE THE UMBRELLA HARDLY GIVES ANY PROTECTION. I WILL NOT BUY ANY MORE SMALL UMBRELLAS, ESPECIALLY ONES THAT OPEN AND CLOSE WITH SAME BUTTON. THEY ARE A PAIN!!! PEOPLE WALKED PAST ME TODAY WITH THE EXTRA LARGE ONES THAT NEED TO BE ON A BEACH!!!

This model Totes auto open, auto close umbrella had worked perfectly for years but I left it in a cab. I was pleased to see same model was still available. The new one works just as well as the one I lost.Other competing umbrella companies claim their umbrella auto opens and auto closes. The ones I purchased only auto open but do not auto close. I returned each of them for a full refund. No explanation for the lack of auto close was offered.
