Unexpected
This book was completely not what I expected. In a good way. I loved seeing the Chosen back together. Ivy and Ether together sniping at each other will always be a joy. The Villian of this book is what was so surprising. Seeing friends fight. Seeing Deacon prove to be a match for 4 of the Chosen plus their allies together. Seeing the surprise return of a hero save the day. The painful loss of that hero again. This book really had everything. I can't wait for more adventures in this world.

Wow!
Such an I retesting conclusion (?) to the series. Blurs the line between good and evil more than once. Must read.

Refreshing life
Above all else I've learned from this series, is Joseph's ability to bring life to characters through conflict and complexity. Both internally and externally, he's created characters in such a way that we can share in their emotions. While, much like Deacon, I didn't find all the answers I was looking for in this book, I'm happy even if this is the end of our tale.

The End of an Era!
The Coin of Kenvard is in my view one amazing story, especially the ending. And I have to say, its sad to see the stories of the five chosen, Myranda, Ivy, Ether, Myn, and Lain, come to an end. But the pieces are now in place for next era to take root. I look forward with excitement to see where the author will take the story next in the Book of Deacon universe.

This series just keeps getting better
Well done. Lallo's thoughts on gray magic are right up at the top alongside Modessit. He gains strength with every story.

Not as good as the first five books in the series!
Book of Deacon, by Joseph Lallo. The trilogy -- loved the trilogy. Volume 4 - The D'Karon Apprentice - was ok, and worth reading. And I did not object to a lingering after-experience of the D'Karon. But the last two books -- I could have done without. Book 5, The Crescents, introduces a new continent, with (you guessed it) more traces of the D'Karon. This would have worked better for me if the author had introduced some shiny new evil, or skipped the evil part altogether, focusing on the battles of the residents of the continent. Still happy to see Myranda and the gang, mind you, but really over the D'Karon. And Volume 6 -- The Coin of Kenvard - completely lost me. I did want to finish the book but found myself reading very quickly, almost skimming. With the D'Karon well and thoroughly vanquished by the end of Volume 3, the lingering traces in Volumes 4 and 5 were a little hard to take. But in Volume 6, we find... yes, an actual D'Karon on our now (mostly) peaceful world. Still love the series, but I'm sort of sorry that I bothered with Volume 6

It maintained the standard of the previous books!
It maintained the standard of the previous books and left the possibility of further stories in the same series/world. I really enjoyed the series. Thank you.
