Sigma 14-24mm f/2.8 DG DN Art Lens for Sony E Mount Mirror-Less Cameras (Black)

Awesome lens if you are an architecture photographer. It won’t be very useful to take portrait and landscape pictures. Pictures wont come that great. If you have little more budget, then go for Sony 16-35mm GMaster 2.8. Its an amazing lens. You can use it of Architecture, Portrait and landscape. You will get amazing portrait pics with 35mm 2.8f using Sony GMaster. I was inspired by this lens and bought Sigma little cheaper lens. But it did not fully meet my expectations.

It has been nearly six months since I bought this lens from Amazon, and I have put it through its paces in a lot of conditions and professional environments. All of the images here were shot with the Sony a7iii and the 14-24 Sigma. Here is my review: 1. Amazon Delivery: The item was delivered to me with one day and packaging was very nicely done. Product was received without any hassle. 2. Build Quality: The lens is of the Sigma ART line, which is Sigma's top of the line lens lineup. With the 'Art' namesake, it follows that the 14-24 is one of the very best built lenses that I have used. Excellent focus and zoom rings, feels dense in the hand. I can also certify its exquisite weather sealing. Being a primary landscape photographer, the weather sealing is of paramount importance to me. On the field in the middle of a sandstorm, the lens weathered everything for more than an hour and no spec of sand got inside anywhere. Weather sealing doesn't get better than this. 3. Sharpness: Needless to say, being from the Art line, the lens is tack sharp right from 2.8 and all the way upto f16-18. Sharpness is good enough even to resolve the 61MP sensor of the a7Riv. 4. Distortion,lens flare, Vignetting: The distortion here is just as much as a 14mm lens should have. There is no extra warping/moustache distortion which cannot be corrected in post. As of the lens flare, I have attached one image where I was shooting directly towards the sun at f18 for demonstrating this scenario. Flaring happens, but that would happen on any wide angle lens at these kind of apertures. Nothing extraordinary going on in here. As of the vignette, it is there but I would argue it adds to the feel of this lens. Most of the time I prefer to keep the natural lens vignette. Of course, you can correct this with one click in Lightroom. 5. Coma : If you observe my milky way image attached here, coma is very minimal right from f2.8. Renders stars very beautifully, even corners are wonderully coma resistant. 6. Use Cases: For me, I find the 14-24 to be an ideal landscape lens, but can be used in professional scenarios like weddings too. Attaching one image I shot in a wedding. 7. Cons: The only con that I could find is the bulbous front element and a fixed lens cap which does not allow the usage of a filter. Although for me, this is nitpicking. You can slide in proprietary filters at the back of the lens, and there are of course other ways to achieve longer exposure times. All in all, this is an excellent lens which you will not regret buying. Highly recommended. **Please note that all images here are shot and owned by me. Unauthorised usage is prohibited.

Lower price than the Sony, even though the Sony goes a couple of mm wider. Sharp even wide open. Can be used for astro too.

Varning till er som hoppas köpa ett 14-24mm för ~6300 kr, jag fick hem ett 45 f/2.8 istället.

Faster and sharper lens

Kurz und knapp... mein Lieblingsobjektiv. Neben diesem besitze ich noch das Sigma 24-70 f2.8 DG N Art. Die Schärfe ist wunderschön, der Autofokus sitzt zuverlässig. Ich liebe es! Meine klare Kaufempfehlung.

I bought this lens for some landscape work from the air and I was veryimpressed with the results. It was used with my Sony A7R V and together a real power house combination.
