Q: What size jar would I need to hold all of the questions that have been asked and answered here more than once?

We’ve asked our team to start working on a new jar design, since we don’t currently have one big enough :)

Q: How many pounds of flour, sugar, etc can be stored in 1, 11/2, & 2 gallon Montana jars with airtight lid?

One gallon is slightly more than 18.5 cups. Five pounds of flour is 16.7 cups. Four pounds of sugar is 8 cups. Whole wheat flour is 4 cups per pound. Brown sugar is 3.3 cups per pound if loose, 2.25 cups if packed. Powdered sugar is 4 cups per pound. Rice is 2.5 cups per pound. I could go on and on, but you get the idea. The best way to find out is to use a search engine. Type in âhow many cups of (insert food here) per pound?â You will get a variety of sites that will tell you.

Q: What are the dimensions of this container including diameter for the opening?

The opening is 6 inches in diameter, and the container is about 9 1/2 inches tall. By the way, I like these very much. I use them for flour and sugar because the large opening makes it easy to scoop and measure.

Q: Is the lid air tight enough for coffee beans?

NO!!! These are ABSOLUTELY NOT AIR TIGHT! I use these for so much and I REALLY LOVE THEM, but THEY DO NOT MAKE A SOLID SEAL. Use them for everything BUT food. THEY TRULY ARE GREAT, THOUGH! ***Use their Heritage Hill for food!!!*** Like Erica said below, they make a great POP when they open and my dogs come flying! I recommend keeping the dog treats sealed in a zip-loc inside the jar. As long as you go through the perishable quickly, the seal is tight enough. Buy several! You’ll find a use for them, I promise!
