HEFTY Price but worth it for whats out there
So let me sum upBought a mac pro desktop and purchased the sonnet fusion m.2 nvme expansion drive pcie x16Was getting great speeds and loved itRealized the new macpro's DESTROY the mac pro at half the price so I returned the mac pro.I then realized that I had the sonnet fusion expansion with no way to mount it to my mac book proI tried looking for a solid PCIE expansion with a x16 slot that could fit a full length pcie card the size of the sonnet fusion, 14 inches.I landed on this item as well as the razer core. I tried the razer core and while it does work, it only has one slot, meant for a graphics card. So first it didn't fit well and second, if I ever wanted to add a 10gb lan port or something else in the future, there was no space.I then purchased this and died at the price point. However, the quality is amazing as I was very happy with their sonnet fusion. It even comes with noctua fans which are the best pc fans out there. Now here's an issue I'm running into and I'm hoping this can be fixed somehow...I have a 2019 macbook pro which supports thunderbolt 3. I plugged in the sonnet fusion to the x16 pcie slot and then plugged in the thunderbolt to my computer.I ran blackmagic disk speed test and I'm only getting 700mb write and 700 reads which is HORRIBLE.. I know thunderbolt can reach speeds up to 40gb so I'm confused. Before on my mac pro with the sonnet fusion I was getting 6gb read and write speeds.Am I doing something wrong?Overall, I'm glad it still works and I'm glad I can add more stuff to it in the future but the speeds are horrible.
