Like new again
Wasn't entirely sure this clutch pak would solve the problem of the wash barrel not spinning, but after viewing Ytube repair video I decided to try it. It turned out to be a complete fix and at a low dollar price tag. The nearly 30 year old washer runs like new. š

Fixed 34 year old washer
Had our 34 year old washer break on Thanksgiving Day - symptom was locked motor, which is unusual, not one that Google covers. Prior to this washer was making a very loud single clunk when going from wash to spin, didnāt sound good, but I lived with for maybe 8 months waiting for it to go from noise to B/O. The plastic arm had its little tabs broken off, probably source of clunk as it wedged itself into place. The old clutch had heat colored the metal.Hardest part of the repair was getting the agitator off of the shaft. Took a couple of hours. Had to keep prying it one side to the other. A ridge of rust had formed on the driveshaft. I poked through the porcelain coating in several places, and Iām sure those will start to rust. Iām going to try covering those up with epoxy.Thereās some waterproof epoxy Iāll try: https://www.amazon.com/Epoxy-Putty-7Oz-White-9904H/dp/B00UOYULI8Otherwise it was relatively easy. I put some grease on shaft and on the metal wheel whose ears come out to apply pressure to the clutch band. Writing this review a month later, washer is quiet, no clunk sound, working fine again. One day I should replace the transmission and the agitator.

Defective
I just received the kit and the clutch band is missing half of the friction pads. It is metal to metal

Be sure to use the correct spring
I used the kit to directly install and the spring which was pre installed was the weaker of the two springs it came with and it ate through the pads pretty quickly. Swapped out the spring to the clutch and reinstalled it but I'll be ordering again for just a clutch band. I'm very happy with my purchase considering my mistake.

Perfect fix for Whirlpool type 111 spin issues
Whirlpool intermittent spin issues resolved! It is great that they sell the whole thing as a kit.Although the couplers were in perfect shape on mine, once you have dismantled it to the point where you can replace them, no reason not to.If you have an older unit (mine is 20+ years), I would highly recommend replacing the suspension springs as well. It is my amateur opinion (since I am an electrical engineer not mechanical) that the wear and relaxation of the suspension springs prematurely stresses and degrades the tensioning of the clutch mechanism leading to failure.

Complete kit to repair worn-out clutch assembly on select Kenmore and Whirlpool washers.
This is a complete set of parts to replace worn out clutch assemblies on most Kenmore 400 series washing machines (check compatible model numbers on the product page). Note this kit contains parts for several similar washer models, so there will probably be some left-over parts not needed. Several videos on the Web for those wanting to DIY this repair.
