Get On Board The Soul Train

This is a great, great box of soulful treats. Look through my music collection and Americana and 60s pop are the standouts...but I've always maintained that regardless of the genre, a good tune is a good tune, and that, in the end, is largely what this 8CD collection is all about. I listened to the entire set, and followed it with the companion piece 'Satisfaction Guaranteed' over the course of a single day and - not denying the odd bit of filler - the experience was sublime. If you're investing in this set you're probably well-versed in this kind of music, but even if you're just interested in the history of music and wondering about Philadelphia Records AND you like tunes, this will suit you down to the ground.

This is an amazing box set, albeit it's only Vol 1 with many more to follow, but that aside the beauty of the Philly sound is here for all to enjoy. Fantastic production, superb songs, a galaxy of stars, and so many memorable tunes! So looking forward to Vol 2....lets hope standards dont drop!

Product price and delivery both excellent.

Nice presentation in a 12inch box includes 8 CDs of original artists albums released on the label in the early 70s. The accompanying large format full colour booklet is a great souvenir and also includes a 12" single which contains two classic cuts from the label along with a full sized poster. The disc storage is not particularly good with foam plugs to hold the disc in place rather clumsy to use. The music cannot be faulted. This box set is the first in a series with the 2nd set now available in 2022. A sound investment and a must for fans of the label.
