Bought the yellow one as a gift for an 8 year old and checked it out before sending it along. This xylophone bridges the gap between toys and serious musical instruments. Nice bright colors, notes embossed into the keys in case the child is learning to read music. Tone is clear and bright, and the note range seems quite appropriate for a beginner. Two mallets allow for harmonies and experimentation--perfect!

I got this product because I want to use music to teach some of the alphabets to my preschool students. I wanted to order at least a dozen but was a little hesitated about the sound. To my surprise, this little instrument sounds very clear and soothing. It actually help me relax when I play on it. I definitely will get a dozen when they become available again. Hopefully soon. My children both love this. It is a bit big for my just-turned-3 year old but perfect for my 6-year-old.

I bought this xylophone for a one year-old. The sound quality was better than the one which came with the music percussion kit I also bought, but a couple of keys are a tiny bit flat on the bottom scale. The sound is clear and bright. The case is okay, somewhat thin plastic with a catch which could be easier to open and handy folding metal legs. For the price, it is fine and much more tuneful than the other xylophone, as well as has sharps and flats and a wider range of notes.

Sound is fine for my toddler (20 months), but it isn’t what is pictured. He doesn’t care, but I’m a bit disappointed it isn’t colorful.

My three year old asked for a rainbow xylophone for her birthday, and this fit the bill. The sound isn't bad, but one of the plastic mallets broke almost immediately! Which made for a very sad toddler.
