Better than most
These have lasted over a year, which most of my shoes don't. Usually they split on the sides, these have not. They are tight in the toe area, after a lot of walking they seem to pinch my toes. They were slip resistant for most of the year, but lately seem to be losing some of the resistance. Is hard to keep the treads clean, since the treads are so small.

Best 85 bucks I've ever spent. Best 85 bucks you'll ever spend. BUY. THESE. NOW.
So here I was, faced with the proposition of transitioning from a six year long work at home gig to a more traditional job where I'm on my feet all day, bending over and squatting, with the possibility of a lot of overtime right off the bat. I wasn't in bad shape going in. 5'7, 130 pounds, 10% body fat according to a fancy scale that shoots electricity through you. I did body weight workouts at home, and once or twice a week I would take a 2-4 hour walk on a nature trail. But I knew my shoes were an issue, because more often than not I'd come back from those walks with very, very sore feet. Sore toes in particular, with shooting pain and sometimes numbness in them. Not great, right? And that's after just a couple hours. Working from home I'd have plenty of time to recover, so it wasn't a big deal, but I knew I wouldn't have that with this job.Soooo....I did my research and found out a lot of waiters, bartenders, warehouse workers, and kitchen staff love these shoes and said that's good enough for me. Best decision I've ever made. I've never had shoes this comfortable. It's like walking on clouds. The comparison between these shoes and every other pair of shoes I've ever owned is like the comparison between whatever couch you have at home and a concrete slab with a spike strip on it to stop homeless people from sleeping there. The transition period into this job was kinda rough. On my back, my shoulders, my legs. But you know what has been 100% fine? My feet. I am so, so, so happy with this purchase I can't even tell you.About a month after I started the new job we also had a move into a new apartment scheduled, for the first time in about ten years (isn't it weird how big life changes tend to happen all at once?). After the move my girlfriend's feet were killing her in a way they hadn't for years (she has an office job). We were sitting in the aftermath, trying to impose some order on our belongings and get the bed set up and she just couldn't even walk. I had been raving about these shoes every day for the last three weeks, so she asks, "can I try wearing your new balances?" I say sure. She puts them on and, I kid you not, her pain instantly went away. Even though they're not even the right size and too big for her, and even though the damage "had already been done," so to speak, she felt immediate relief. I cannot stress enough how much you need these shoes yesterday. If I had infinite money I would drive around throwing these shoes at random passerby, and after they got over the initial anger at the shoe-shaped imprint left on their forehead they would thank me.

Quality a bit lacking in this pair.
While normally I enjoy New Balance for their wide options, this shoe didn't quite fit (so to speak). It felt stiffer than normal for a new shoe, and sadly felt and looked a bit cheaper than the shoes I was used to getting from them. The last straw was I know my size, and this pinched my right foot so it could have been just the one mistake in manufacturing or they have changed their widths a bit. I returned these and stumbled across a pair of hiking shoes, Merrell's, at my local shop and they fit the bill for me.

Great for plantar fasciitis and posterior tibial tendonitis
I just started working for an oil change shop. I’m constantly on my feet running around. We are required to wear to all black leather shoe with non-slip soles. My job gave me a pair of shoes but they were terrible. I couldn’t bare to stand on feet all day with them. I have flat feet and the complications that come along with flat feet. I have very bad plantar fasciitis and posterior tibial tendonitis. My podiatrist recommended new balance shoes and since switching to new balance half a year ago, my feet issues have really gotten better. It’s not 100% better and will probably never be, but I went from not being able to walk longer than 1/4 mile and limping around my house with excruciating pain to being able to walk miles on end with very minimal pain. It’s amazing. So I figured why not order New balance work shoes when I started this job a month ago and I do not regret it. They are so comfortable. Before with the work supplied shoes I was in terrible pain halfway through my 8 hour shift but now with these shoes and I can finish the shift with my feet feeling the same way they did at the start of my shift. I will definitely be buying a new pair when these get too worn.
