If I have this on my car door, will it protect the car next to me if I open the door into their car?

Should it. I did mine and protects other car when I open the door.

How flexible is this stuff? Trying to cover my door edges in a lotus Elise so I need this stuff to be flexible but also not leaves lines or edges

I would say from images i looked up you would have no problems. look up a 2019 Chevy Sonic RS (4 dr sedan) i install it on all 4 door. my back door have a major curve in the door.. it did fine for me.. i put in on the front side, the worked it toward the back as the Video link showed (link was on package when it arrived)

Why won’t it work on a 2019 Mazda CX-5?

I have a 2017 Mazda CX-5 and the back doors might be difficult because of the sharp turn near the center of the door to accommodate the wheel well. The fronts are easy though!
