Great Scale For The Price
I am fairly new to the world of espresso, so I didn't want to go all put buying top of the line scales just yet. This one is great to have for quick readings in messy locations.I use it daily to measure the espresso shot coming out. Sometimes it spills over on to the scale but that never has affected the performance of it after a quick wipe down.Using calibrated weights, it is fairly accurate. 6 different weights all read within the same tolerance. It was off by 0.2g with each of the calibrated weights. So it is not the most accurate but it will give you a good estimation.

Great, but issues with water resistance
Perfect dimensions for coffee scales, but unfortunately started to struggle turning on after a year, and fully failed a few months after that. I checked the innards and could see some rust/grime on the battery contacts. A rub with some contact cleaner and it seems to be working again, but presumably will suffer the same issue eventually.Whilst these scales aren't specifically advertised as waterproof/resistant, they are mentioned as suitable for within an expresso machine, which obviously is going to include some moisture, even though I was careful drying it off before use.

Love this little scale
Fits perfectly below my cup when I extract espresso. Timer and scale allow me to dial in the perfect extraction. Would buy again.

Cheap and convenient, but NOT accurate.
1 year update: Despite the extremely annoying creeping readout (see below) and fact that the stickiness of the power button never went away (also see below), it's now been about a year and the scale still works. I use this thing a LOT - daily and throughout the day, for both coffee and food. Even considering its shortcomings, it's basically okay for what it is - a cheap, no-frills scale that does only what I want it to do and fits right where I want it to fit. But, as mentioned above, be aware that it's DEFINITELY NOT fast or accurate, contrary to the seller's claims or what many reviewers here seem to think. What else is new.Original review:Nearly everything I'm looking for in an espresso scale at an extremely easy price point. But the reasons for its low price are unsurprising, and become evident quite soon. My rating stays at middling until I'm convinced otherwise.Pros:• Easily fits under a Flair espresso maker.• Built-in count-up timer.• Backlit, legible readout.• Very affordable.Cons:• Apparently vulnerable to liquid.• Inaccurate and inconsistent.• Slow to register - 1-2 second lag, or more.• Less than optimal battery life, at least with frequent use. Consider rechargeables. In terms of functions, this scale's simplicity works very well for me. I don't need or want complicated programming, brew profiles or social media functions, and *especially* no wireless connectivity radiating an EMF right underneath my coffee. No thanks. There's none of that here - just the weight in grams or ounces theoretically in tenths/hundredths, a timer in whole seconds and a tare function. Fine with me, although I say "theoretically" because, despite the scale being usable enough, it can take around a second to catch up and another second to register that it's stabilized, and readings can fluctuate at different weighings for the same object within half a gram or more.On top of that, if I let whatever I'm weighing sit there for a minute or so while I prep something, l occasionally come back to find that the reading has crept up as much as a gram or more. As a result, I have no idea whether the initial reading is accurate or not, so I just go by that and use it as a point of reference relative to the rest of the recipe. I suppose looking in this price range without thinking you could manage with that might require a reexamining of your expectations a little. I'm under no illusion that this isn't still a cheap scale, despite its features. The timer has no pause/resume function. In sequence, pressing the button gives you start, stop, and reset. Not a critical flaw for me, but something to be aware of.Also not critical, but could stand improvement, is battery consumption. The batteries the scale came with lasted me about 3.5 months. This is after daily use and, not infrequently, more than once per day. Could be worse and you can judge by your own usage, but I replaced them with rechargeables as soon as they died. However, it does appear to need better protection. All the other drawbacks are manageable, but THAT is critical. This is meant to be used near and under hot liquids, after all. With such a small form factor, the chiclet-style mechanical buttons are quite exposed to splashes and drips. In hindsight, I wish I'd thought of covering them with a little Saran Wrap or something. Less than 2 weeks in and the power button already felt sticky. At least, I presume that's from drips and not simply from wearing out already. Fairly worrisome either way, really. So at only $12 bucks, is it worth it? Maybe, with certain compromises. If you're like me, being not so exacting that I need tenth-of-a-gram accuracy, this will get you in the ballpark within about half a gram most of the time. Not insignificant when it comes to affecting flavor, but you can decide for yourself whether or not it's manageable enough. Anyway, you're probably in for a lot of frustration if you're trying to brew espresso without any adaptability in your approach. Apart from that, I also appreciate that I don't need to reach for another device if I want to time a shot, and I haven't seen another scale in this price range that has a timer, save for a few exact copies with different branding.Ultimately, though, it won't be nearly as attractive a price if I have to keep replacing it. So, we'll see how well it lasts.
