Clean Slate [Blu-ray]

Seen it before, way back when, but ironically I had forgotten most of it so it was fresh... seriously ;-)

And I thought "Fifty First Dates" (with Adam Sandler & Drew Barrymore) got tiring after a while! This one is worse. Maurice L. Pogue (Dana Carvey) is supposed to be a private detective who can't remember anything about the previous day after waking-up in the morning, and at the same time he can't tell anybody about it, and so he just wings it. It would take some REALLY GOOD writing to make this premise work, and without it the whole thing just gets overly silly and confusing. I quickly lost interest. Valeria Golino is beautiful as Carvey's love interest, but the rest of this plot gets increasingly confusing and absurd. I guess it's supposed to be a 'comedy of errors' of sorts, but it just doesn't work.

Very good movie

"Clean Slate" has to be one of my most favorite movies! Dana Carvey does a fabulous job as a detective who loses his memory every night when he goes to sleep! I used to have it in VHS, but had to have a DVD copy that will last longer! HIghly recommend this very funny movie! A+++

It is now March 2021- This DVD, a delightful romantic comedy purchased here more than ten years ago, since then has provided rare enjoyment on numerous occasions.

This is definitely an oldie but goodie movie. It has romance, comedy, action, and Dana Carvey is adorable! He is a private investigator with a type of amnesia that causes him to forget everything whenever he falls asleep. This is quite problematic, especially when he is in the middle of a murder trial, involving some pretty bad guys. Throw in a beautiful woman, played by Valeria Golino, and his little dog (wearing an eye patch), and all you need is a comfy couch to sit back and enjoy.

The good…..movie arrived on time with no visible scratches.The bad….there are no graphics on the disk, and the movie freezes and pixelates about half way through. I would have communicated directly with the seller vs leaving feedback but there was no link to do that.

This movie is hilarious, but no one ever saw it, or if they did, they didn’t like it or they don’t remember; but people are dumb—and getting dumber all the time. If you’re less dumb than those people, you’ll like this movie because it will make you laugh, and for one brief moment, you’ll forget how dumb everyone is and how much that pisses you off.

Good quality new dvd - excellent seller

While there have been some very negative opinions of the solo prowess of Dana Carvey, this film proves that the man is talented, and is also very funny.The premise of the film revolved around a character who wakes every morning with no memory of the previous day. It transpires he is an ex-policeman who witnessed a murder, and was so traumatised by the event that he now suffers daily amnesia. To complicate matters, no one knows about his memory loss, and he just happens to be testifying against the crime lord responsible. So far, so obvious situations played for cheap laughs. However, the way Carvey performs them with complete innocence is what makes the film shine - there are some genuine laugh out loud moments. On the negative side, there are a few moments that don't quite gel, and it is possibly a tad over long, but on the whole this film is a underrated gem. Highly recommended.

Yet again we are enlightened by Dana and his ability to be funny. Unlike many other comedians all we have to do is look and him and somehow we seem to laugh. The plot was also something to look up to. He just totally pulled off the look of innocence every single day when the audience knew otherwise. The character that he plays is unlike any that he has played before (police) and he pulls it off well. Hats off to you Dana you made me laugh and probably a lot more people laugh yet again.

Funny as hell. If you saw memento you'll get the idea but this film is funny and uplifting. The dog is even a great actor and funny.

Underrated, and really funny film.
