Perfect gift for a toddler
We love this and have gifted this train multiple times. It's a great price point for a gift and I typically gift it to a 1 or 2 y.o. Great for working on numbers, colors and just playing and building.

Legos are an excellent toy for kids!
Our 3 year old SON has spent HOURS playing with this train set! He builds it,takes it apart, and builds it again! The extra prices can be used to make a tunnel,a tree, or his favorite, a delivery! He stacks them up and puts the on the train car to be delivered! My little boy recently discoveredLego Duplo, and he loves this particular one better than all of the other Duplo toys! He loveslooking at the pictures onthe box and copying them, or making a super big train, and thishas lots of sets of wheels, so its his fave.Very durable, bright colors, perfect! it's not only fun to play with but is educationalas well and is child safe.I highly recommend this toy for a three year old who is a quick learner.

Perfect toy for grandkids' visits for ages 1-5.
I bought this for my 14 month old grandson to play with when he visits. However, my 3 year old granddaughter, 4 year old grandson, and 5 year old granddaughter all have lots of fun with this product. I takes a lot of use (and sometimes abuse) and continues to look and work like new. The 14 month old and 3 year olds build things with the blocks and push the train around. The 4 and 5 year olds line up the numbers on the train and position the dog and the engineer in different places on the train. So, I can vouch for the fact that the age range of 1-5 years is spot on and will occupy kids in this age range for an hour or two at a time (quite an accomplishment for this age bracket).

Great Present for Children
I purchased this product for my two year old nephew's birthday, and it was a big hit. He loves trains and LEGOs, so this was the perfect combination. He can easily grab and put the blocks together, and there are no small parts that might be hazardous. The numbers are a great bonus for starting any child off to basic counting in a fun way.I rarely by actual LEGO products because they tend to run on the expensive side compared to similar product brands. But I felt this was a steal at $14.43 because it also doubles as and actual toy train and counting game. I could not find it cheaper anywhere else.

Awesome Set, Except for One Minor Thing
My 2-year-old saw a video on YouTube that featured this item, for practice counting in English and Spanish. So I thought it would be a treat to get him the same toy. He loves trains, loves blocks, so this is almost a perfect match for him. The train cars latch together easily enough for 2-year-old fingers to accomplish, and yet don't fall apart too easily either. Duplo makes some really solid blocks that consistently stack well, stay together well, and yet come apart when it's time to disassemble and start over. It's all really good construction and most likely will hold up well for decades, just like the ones I had as a kid that are still lurking in my parents' basement somewhere. The one downside to this particular set is that although there are 10 numbered blocks, when the train is fully assembled, there are only 9 spaces on the cars. The illustration on the box shows the 10th block being used as part of a tower. But that's not how my toddler wants to do it. He can knows the numbered blocks are all the same, and therefore he wants them grouped together. That's pretty typical of toddler development and play. I wish the #10 block had been a wider block so it was clear that it's meant to be used differently than the others.Older kids probably don't have this hang-up, so it's probably not an issue for most families. But my little guy found it incredibly frustrating, and a frustrated toddler is not a person to mess with. So we put block #10 away for awhile. Crisis averted for now! But he does know it exists and asks about it from time to time. If you're getting this for a 2 or 3-year-old with perfectionistic tendencies, I recommend pulling that block out before handing it over to them.

Must have learning toy for toddlers!
Awesome set for any toddler! It's really easy to incorporate number, color, and order lessons with this train, as well as building and spatial reasoning. Can be put together by an adult and used as a chunky train for younger ones until they're ready for more advanced play. They'll let you know they're ready by starting to take it apart and trying to put it back themselves. Do not hesitate on this one for your boy or girl!

Lots of fun for a 3 year old
Aside from seeming pricey (as all Legos/duplos seem), the duplos train has been a lot of fun for my 3 year old. It has 4 cars, a dog, an engineer, and numbers 1-10. The set presents opportunities to reinforce counting/numbers and colors. Kids seem to love hooking up the cars too-and using this in conjunction with other sets (we use it with the construction set a lot). This gets played with almost daily, so just in that respect it's a success. We've kept the box and instructions too so we can recreate the pictures.

It also comes with animals and more figurines which adds to his fun. Overall
Saw this on a deal site and I had to jump on it. My 2 y/o son loves trains and Legos as much as anyone his age would. We had some other starter sets, but this set added more of the "rolling" pieces which he loves. It also comes with animals and more figurines which adds to his fun. Overall, a very good addition or standalone set that I would recommend to anyone who loves trains.
