Not the place to scrimp, get this genuine VW / Audi filter.
Perfect for my Audi a3 8p 2.0 tsi (tfsi). Do it warmish; every 5k, not 10; use Euro VW/Audi spec oil (not just any Mobile 1 or synthetic); and use this OEM filter, or OEM manufacturers like Mann.Seems like the male/male threaded piece with the plastic cage attched always sticks in the housing when removing filter, though. Not too difficult, but it's a bit awkward to unscrew that after the filter is out, and it could be confusing if you are new to these and take off a female threaded filter while your new one looks to be one male-threaded part. There's no faceted place for a wrench on this male/male piece and crushing threads always feels wrong, even when it's being replaced. Also, I love topside oil changes with my my-tee-fine myti-vac, but sure hate the way this particular filter set up hangs on to oil when engine is drained, then dumps it when unscrewing. Unlike my other upside-down, topside filter cars (Mercedes) it really dumps and it's tough to get rags all the way round the base. Do it, though, or you'll be smelling your spill as it travels it's unreachable path for weeks. Months later, you'll be underneath and think you have a leak. When still under dealer's service, their own filter spill caused dealer to misdiagnose leak. (I got it on lift, could see the path, cleaned it up, no leak 15k more miles.)
