Memoirs of a Parrot

Not at all sorry I purchased this (as I have been w/ others)!
I'm between "It's okay" and "I love it". Of course I have the goldfish book and the hamster book...two wonderful characters with two very unique personalities that were very well developed for a short children's book. The fish is wonderfully sarcastic and the hamster obliviously content (then not then back to wonderfully content). This parrot...sadly not so well developed. I know, I know...! It's a kid's book! And as a kid's book, it's pretty good! I really like how Devin makes a strong point that a parrot is not a frivolous pet in the way a hamster or fish can be, and like those two books, Devin lays it out pretty clearly that each pet has very specific needs... I just wasn't as thrilled with the parrot's development. That's from an adult-perspective. From my child's (an almost three-year old boy), the illustrations are again on-point and the story line was something he immediately glommed on to...unlike other books where he's distracted by page three! If you're a fan of the other two, you'll enjoy this as well.

Very cute story
This book is cute, good for young children to listen to or read themselves, depending on their age and ability.

Fun and great
Love this book. Birds have so much personality that this helps understand how they feel and how it takes time to warm up to people.its easily written for a young child to understand

Memoirs of a parrot will make you laugh and say awww
Memoirs of a Parrot is a wonderful story. It is funny. It is also endearing. If you are teaching character traits and evolution of a character. This book is an entertaining way to do that.

So cute!
I love reading this to my students each year. Memoirs of a Goldfish and Memoirs of a Hamster are better stories, but this one is still cute.

Does Polly want a cracker?
Absolutely love it! Hilarious journey of friendship and understanding through new forms of communication. My class loves all the Memoir books and have taken to writing their own memoir stories complete with interesting characters and signature phrases. They even wanted to skip recess to work! Devin Scillian is a gifted writer whose talents reach far and wide as he crafts the most vivid characters that you feel you know, or would want to know. Tim Bowers bright and creative artwork brings the story off the page in an exciting and accurate way. Kudos to both of you!
