Q: Is there a way to refill the water? We've received similar games at carnivals, and the water tends to "disappear" after a while.

They appeared to be securely sealed.

Q: Is it just water inside or salt water? will it freeze? I want to leave in car for kids entertainment during travel through winter mths.

I believe it’s just water. I would not advise you leaving this in any car simply for the fact that it’s plastic and it will more than likely leak. One of mine started to leak a week after getting it

They are very, very tiny & can be held in 2 fingers. The pictures enhance the size. I would say they are pocket size. O.K. for traveling I guess.
