Speak with Impact: How to Command the Room and Influence Others

This is a great book! Giving presentations and speaking in public were areas I was struggling with, but this book taught me techniques and tips that helped me not only control my stress level, but also ensure that I deliverthe right message with the right posture to maximize the impact.This book sits on my desk and I regularly refer to it.

Excellent reference!

This book provides an easy-to-understand guide for how to craft a speech and deliver it effectively. What I love about this book is that it deals not only with how to craft a persuasive speech that resonates with the audience and flows logically, it also outlines exercises that can help you build your own personal confidence. For me getting over my own anxiety and "allowing myself to speak" has always been a challenge, and Allison has techniques that address this. I used this book to help craft a professional keynote address that I just successfully delivered to an audience of 150. Just a couple months ago I would have considered this impossible, but now I feel buoyed by my success. If you want to get over your fear of public speaking (or at least tame it!), I can't recommend this book enough!

As this is a book about public speaking, I decided to go the audible route instead of reading the book. I figured since Ms Shapira is a professional speaker, I could learn something from listening to her words and not just reading them. Unfortunately, I found her difficult to listen to. Perhaps narrating isn't her strong suit and her speaking events are more engaging? Nevertheless, the information is presented well and I give her credit for taking basic public speaking concepts and attempting to make them her own. Concepts such as "who is my audience?" is nothing new, though. But, if you are looking for a basic primer, this is a good book.

Alison has nailed it with this one! If you are looking to improve your skills at speaking, whether in public or private, this book is a phenomenal resource. I am a professional speaker and I cannot recommend this any more strongly.
