Buying this product was actually an act of desperation. We had a HUGE stain right in the middle of the living room carpet – source unknown. OK, there were several grandchildren with all manner of goodies, and that cute little Yorkie puppy who was still being house-trained. Would you believe it? Nobody spilled or piddled on the carpet. Nobody!! But, there it was. Since that fateful weekend, I have cleaned the carpet twice myself, had a professional carpet cleaner do it once, and personally scrubbed the carpet with a couple of well-reviewed spot cleaners. It always looks like it’s gone, and then it reappears in a few days. My husband and I have been talking about new carpeting. I have also looked into buying a large area rug to cover it. So, when I saw this Bissel Oxy Stain Destroyer Pet Plus, I figured, what do I have to lose? Goodness knows, the price was right. It took me about half an hour to spray the spot thoroughly, completely draining the can. Following the directions faithfully, I used my Hoover Deep Cleaning machine to agitate and then extract the solution. Then, once more with my machine on the RINSE cycle. I overlapped onto the surrounding clean carpet and noticed that the dirty water tank wasn’t taking in dirty water until I hovered right over the spot and then the water got dirtier and dirtier. Apparently the solution loosened something way down deep and then my machine sucked it up. The carpet is dry now. There are no residual chemicals left in the carpet. It didn’t change color or shrink. We have walked on the “spot” repeatedly to force the shadowy spot to reappear. So far, so good. My husband says out loud what I fear to even whisper, “I think we got it!”

This stuff is awesome. I had almost given up on getting pee stains out of my nice white wool carpet. Had tried other spot cleaners and baking soda and if anything they made it worse. This stuff got it out in a jiffy. Super happy!

I tried every enzymatic carpet cleaner on the market, and still only got the several stains my puppy’s one week of diarrhea had left on my WHITE living room rug removed to about 60%... then I soaked the rug in a highly concentrated oxy-clean solution, which took them all to about 90%... but there was still a faint but obvious ring of color difference around the outside edge of where I’d soaked each stain-area. At this point, the stains were about 2 months old, so I was worried the brown outlines would never come out regardless of miracle product. I read all the promising reviews, and purchased! Who cares if the bottle leaks (as some reviewers state)? Perhaps that’s an irritating factor when you have minor or routine stains to remove and you want a non-messy bottle to use on the regular. But when you’re heartbroken over a centerpiece of your home being ruined beyond hope and you’ve devoted hours scrubbing and invested probably $100 in others products - just pour it on the carpet, or buy a $2 spray bottle to transfer it into! Yes, it leaks. I care not. Because my stains are not only GONE, but they were gone in SECONDS. I followed the instructions - spray, wait ten seconds, dab up excess, vacuum when dry... the stains disappeared AS I WAS SPRAYING. Not only that, I noticed as I was down on my knees to spray, that a slight odor was still present despite the other cleansers, and that is now done as well! Nothing but fresh and clean. I now keep 2 bottles in the pantry at all times, just in case they ever stop making it. And I hope they don’t! Thank you!
