Great solution
My personal PC is a non updated Windows 7 that I have had for over a decade and I will ride it into the ground. Unfortunately, I have been stuck with a Windows 10 PC for work that I absolutely hate. Takes forever to be usable after boot, wonky updates and just the overall unpleasantness of the W10 environment was driving me bonkers. I had thought about the Chrome Box as a solution for a while and the only regret I have is that I didn't get it sooner. It's ready to go instantly upon start up, handles multiple tabs and streaming with ease with no janky Windows nonsense. As an added bonus, it has a Linux interface that will allow you to install non native programs like Signal. Initially, I couldn't be more pleased.

Good value for a simple PC to access the internet.
I bought this for my mother in law (89 years old) to use as a simple internet terminal for accessing internet news sites, email, Facebook, Amazon, etc. I used it with the large monitor, mouse, and keyboard from her old Windows PC, so she doesn't have to contend with the small screens and cramped keyboards of a typical inexpensive Chromebook. Now I don't have to worry about antivirus programs, OS updates, or malware getting accidentally installed. Has plenty of memory, more than fast enough for her purposes. I was also able to get it to work with an existing Brother laser printer, and new Canon scanner. Just plugged those two things into the USB ports, and they worked. So she can also copy and print documents.

More than enough power to handle anything in Chrome OS
The Amazon device description covers most everything about this computer. It is fast and more than capable of handling almost anything Chrome OS can throw at it without a hiccup. It will drive a large FHD screen with no problem and 4K seems to work just fine as well. The same caveats apply to this device as to any other Chrome OS device, it does NOT run Apple or Microsoft apps natively. Apple has a work around called iCloud.com that allows you to run all their basic apps (Mail, Photos, Notes, Numbers, Find My, etc.) but not things like Final Cut or Logic Pro. Microsoft has made a good chunk of its software available on the cloud was well. That said, this machine was designed for the Google software ecosystem including their Android Apps and that's where it is happiest. If that works for you, this is an excellent machine for the money.

Glad I chose this
Zero problems, dead silent in operation, small footprint, Chrome OS can have limited app selection but meets my needs.

No need for windows.
Purchased this to replace windows desktop. This is so fast and easy to use, no need to get windows or apple. No need to get virus protection. Highly recommend!

Freezes and Can't Get Box to Run
I was busy with other projects when the ASUS Chromebox 5 arrived and so didn't connect it right away. When I first connected it, as usual for computers, it went into update mode and restart. That process seemed to go well until the computer froze. I couldn't get the mouse or keyboard to get the computer to respond. I pushed power button to hard stop the computer. I rebooted the computer and after a page or two, again it froze. I walked away muttering to myself that this never happened with the ASUS Chromebox 3 I've had for a few years. After focusing on other projects for a week or ten days, I came back to the ASUS Chromebox 5 and the same freezing happened. I then checked with Amazon and found I was two days past the return date. So, now I have what we used to call a brick for a door stop. I'm so disappointed, but to some extent, I should have booted up the computer when I first received it. Live and learn (and don't forget that it was an ASUS computer that will make me very hesitant to buy another ASUS computer).

Great device but not reliable
I purchased this to provide a browser option for a TCL Roku TV. Chrome OS is perfect for this and when it works, this Chromebox does an excellent job of handling video, sound, access to email and other browser-centric functions. However, I've had two fail shortly after receiving them. The first one worked fine with a wifi connection but the ethernet port was unreliable and wouldn't hold a stable connection. I returned it to Amazon, got another, which worked fine for two weeks until the screen went black. Rebooting and other attempts to get it working failed. I've returned this one and will be installing my third ASUS Chromebox. Let's hope third one works like a charm. I will say that Amazon's return policies make replacement easy. I did a chat with ASUC support -- took a bit of effort to find how to do a support chat on ASUS's web site -- but they suggested sending it in for service, which would have left me without a device for an unknown period of time.

Great for Internet use
Got this for my 85 year old dad who just lives on the internet. He has a larger monitor and separate keyboard and mouse from his PC. I was getting tired of constantly cleaning out viruses or reinstalling Windows from his constant virus and adware contamination. No matter what anti-virus software or user setting his PCs constantly were getting compromised. He didn't want a Chromebook, cause of the setup, but a Chromebox seemed like it'd be worth a try. Apple products seemed like overkill for his needs.6 months in and no problem with any malware or performance. We're all happy.
