IMDB in my hands.
It's not even a biography, it was more a filmography. Almost 75% of the book is synopsis of Rajesh Khanna's movies, I could as well gone online and read up IMDB! Giving 2 stars for the author's attempt to gauge Rajesh Khanna's personality based on his film choices.

Rajesh Khanna: Actor, Superstar & Phenomenon
An excellent book about the first superstar of Indian Cinema. It beautifully describes Rajesh Khanna's magnetic charisma, crazy fan following and superb acting skills that made him a romantic genius from 1969-75. It also ably describes his lean patch from 76-78 and then his comeback in 82-84. It also describes his last years before his death and his ultimate acknowledgement as being a flawed genius who delivered an amazing 17 hit films in a row when he was at his peak (a record yet to be broken).

First major book on the enigmatic superstar
But disappointed it leaves the personal side out which would be a must in any study of this enigmatic personality.

Great Bio
Outstanding book. I coul not put it down. Sympathetic but not shirking from the truth. The ‘god’ that Rajesh Khanna felt himself to be was so well described that one wonders what kind of a person is that. His affairs before he married Dimple and after showed a flawed character so well portrayed. And the book has many side descriptions of significant songs which made Khanna famous. Remember Woh Sham Kuchh and Chingari Koi Bharke. Two of the outstanding songs. Well much else to write but I will let readers decide.

... sincere attempt to chronicle the life of the first super star whom the film industry has neglected
First time some one has made a sincere attempt to chronicle the life of the first super star whom the film industry has neglected. It is a good narrative but somewhere down the line since the subject is no more alive, the author could tried tal;king to people whom he worked with and are still alive like J Om Prakash, Gulzaar, Amitabh Bachchan to more about the situations and events that kept him out of many top notch banners that were making movies then. Like why did J Om Prakash failed to repeat him after Aap Ki Kasam in Apnapan or why Ramesh Sippy never considered him in any movies after Andaz. His contribution in making yash Chopra with two back to back hits in Ittefaq and Daag and yet Chopra never considered him for the romantic Kabhi Kabhie. The book could have also explored the myth of his being just a Star aby writng about him as an actor in films like AAvishkaar, Bawarchi, Safar, Khamoshi to name a few wherein he excelled as an Actor par excellence. Still credit should go to the writer for acknowlegding the Super Star

Got an old copy
bought from my mom, she loved it. the book has a lot of obscure information about him and also has pictures on glossy pages. Deducted 1* because I got an old copy, the pages were a bit yellowed sadly. Otherwise, good book. Recommended for his fans.

Revealing
Good narration of events but fails to really get i to the.psyche of the superstar.Does not really tell us how such people handle their decline. But describes the hindi film industry of the 70's and 80s fairly well .A good entertaining read with excellent technical knowledge of films and media

Wow. Extremely well articulated book about a complex personality. Must Buy.
Exceptionally well written book with attention to detail. Much anecdotal information that adds to the human angle. I would compare this to the Keith Richards book 'Life' in seriousness of intent whilst portraying a complex icon. The only places it loses out is when it comes across as a fanboy dedication in two or three occasions, but thats excusable... it's Rajesh Khanna, after all! Will like to buy a print version to keep in the bookshelf, as it would be a great conversation-starter, given the polarising opinions people have of the man.

Must read for film fans
Must read for Rajesh Khanna fans. We can relive our school college days through the initial pages. Lot of unheard stories, unknown aspects are mentioned. True RK fans must gift themselves this book. The analysis by author is commendable

Good book to read
Good book to read.Looking at his first three years in the industry anyone could have guessed this star would burst with BIG-BANG, such was the gravity of his personal life that this star collapsed in its own gravity into a BLACK HOLE.

Dark Star in Dark only
Disappointing. This is not analytical biography. It is just statement of happenings which could have been done by anyone taking labour to find sequence of events.

Rajesh Khanna... Who else?
A great narrative about the one and only Superstar who made us believe in our innocence and showed us the way to live the life thorough his multifarious performances. Heartfelt thanks to Gautam Chintamani for making us relive our life.
