Alain Ducasse Cooking for Kids: From Babies to Toddlers: Simple, Healthy, and Natural Food

Pretentious and unnecessary
This is a beautifully presented recipe book for babies and toddlers, but unfortunately is not for me. I do not think the recipes (except maybe the most basic, single-ingredient purees) are approachable or realistic for my lifestyle, and I am a NYC mother with access to less common ingredients and organic fruits and vegetables. I am also well versed in the kitchen and ambitious in my meal-making for my family, but still, these recipes are not going to happen. I don't even attempt recipes with similar complexity (as some of the meals for older babies/toddlers) for my husband and I on a special occasion. The book comes off quite pretentious, assuming organic everything, suggesting creme fraiche, blue-veined cheeses and watercress for your little one. Maybe my cooking style of simple, rustic, delicious and satisfying meals just doesn't mesh with Ducasse's fancier, fussier, French perspective, but I also don't think my baby's meals need to be prepared this way, especially since, if I want him to like my cooking as he grows older, this is not how I make food in my house. This item is not an Amazon free returns, so consider carefully if you want to spend your money on this recipe book. I am sticking to finding inspiration on the Internet for my baby's meals.

Amazing Purchase
I’m a professional pastry chef and I happened to come across this book while shopping in Los Angeles. I was surprised the amazing chef Alain Ducasse came out with a book for babies to toddlers. The book has many different kinds of combination recipes. Gives babies to toddlers to experiment different flavor profile. If you’re willing to experiment and give your little one something different than one solid purée or boring finger food. I would highly recommend giving Chef Alain Ducasse a chance and purchase this book.

Good To Have Around
What's best? I enjoy how there is a timeline for appropriate foods to eat at different ages. To be honest, some of these recipes look a little "frou frou" to me... But it is laid out nicely and it's easy to read. Plus I can take the suggestions and run with them too. The illustrations are awesome and it would be great for most families to have in the house!

This is a must for all those wanting to teach their children to love a variety of foods!
I was worried this book would be way too complicated since the author is a well known chef in New York with 9 restaurants globally. However, the meals are easy, appetizing and look super appealing. I love that the book breaks out the recipes by age and variety (sea, garden, land, ...). I really can't say enough about this book. This book is also helpful in training older, more picky eaters to learn to love healthy foods as well. Minimal and easy to find ingredients, very healthy, fantastic photos...I just couldn't' be happier.

Wife loves it and baby is eating the food! Can't ask for more
What a great concept. The recipes are all good enough for grown ups to try but more importantly my son loves what we've made him so far. Future foodie in the making.

Good for laughs and not much else
Good for laughs and not much else. I opened the book to squid and lime muffins. Really? I wouldn't want to cook most of the recipes let alone eat them and that's if I could find the ingredients. Very disappointed.

Honestly, I was expecting some special recipes, but ...
Honestly, I was expecting some special recipes, but found regular vegetable puree with formula recipe. Seriously?! I think this book doesn't worth the price. I wish I didn't buy it!

I live in London and I can't get hold of things like Peruvian purple potatoes
Recipes look lovely but very unrealistic for small children. For starters, the ingredients are almost impossible to find! I live in London and I can't get hold of things like Peruvian purple potatoes. Many of these dishes would be phenomenally expensive to make for just one child, particularly when there's a risk that the whole lot will be thrown on the floor. I've only made one or two of the recipes and my child wouldn't eat any of them. If you're looking for a French baby cookbook I prefer Jenny Carenco's Bebe Gourmet.

you will find it useless.
This is a book for babies, not toddlers. It doesn't go beyond 18 months. If you buy for a toddler, you will find it useless.

Teaching your baby to love food
This book is by a well known chef yet the recipes are straight forward and easy to make. They are for me. I love that it's categorized by age and seasons and variety. I love the additional tips and that from the beginning on your baby gets to love food as it should be. Not with wacky purees but just enhancing the flavor of what is , adding texture and making it look appetizing. We love it.
