What's with the scars on his face? I don't remember Lupen having any facial scars and I've read the books several times.

There is very little mentioned about Lupin's appearance in the books. It is said that he has a rather lined face, and it got more lined as the story proceeded, which could either be interpreted such as wrinkles or even faded scars. In the films, he is shown with apparent scars. If the figurine were to follow the little guidance given in the books, he should have had grey strands of hair, as well.
