Outwardly a simple pattern!
Bought this as a returning sewist. I had purchased some cotton jersey and decided to make a toile and see how the pattern went. Firstly, for a complete beginner having to join a pattern piece could be the initial problem. On a paper pattern this is the first time i have had to do this.I followed the instruction exactly for the neck binding but the neck did not lie flat. I turned it in and handstiched it on the seam and now it is perfect. I think the normal facing method or bias binding would be better.I shortened the bodice as my jersey fabric was thinnish - with a viscose or similar it would probably 'blouse over' ok but my jersey looked better a bit flatter. The hem is the big problem and I think in jersey fabric would prove tricky for a beginner. Better to use a more solid fabric.I used the grown on short sleeve but frankly IF I made this again I will join a piece of hemmed fabric on and then seam up the side and under arm. A lot less faff. So, I do not think this is for a beginner. Did email TATB but no response whatsoever.Beginners, there are easier dual woven/stretch patterns out there. Why made life difficult for yourself?
