Not for astro
1.2 with manual controls would be PERFECT for wide angle astro with dedicated cam manual is better you can stop down to sharpen stars without electronic connection to camera. Unfortunately coma and non ED glass makes it unusable. Wanted to love this but sending it back.

Prime Glass on the Cheap!
You know Ive always been hesitant about manual lenses. That and non-name brand ones to boot. However I needed a 50mm prime and I wasnt about to drop over 1k for one. So I opted to go for this one that is manual to boot. Thanksfully all my fears were misplaced and I kick myself now for not realizing this sooner. Incoming Pros/Cons Pros: -Phenomenal value -Awesome glass just as good as canon glass -Beautiful pictures that are better than canon lenses (primes at least) -Easy to attach and use -Better made than some of my L series (3k lenses) -Manual is easy to use for a prime Cons: -Its still manual focus, but since its a prime its easy to focus I truly am shocked at how good of pictures I've been taking with this lens. The fact that its a prime makes focusing super simple. It also allows you to manually set your bokeh and softness without fighting with the camera AI to focus on something else. Its actually quite refreshing. Lens is also very hefty and well made. Glass is much better than I ever expected. Needless to say I am over the moon at the quality of this beast!

Surprisingly good.
I am very surprised at the image quality from this affordable lens. Images aren’t the sterile and boring modern look but they do have some character. I’ve made simple snapshots look almost cinematic. The build quality is great with all metal construction and the focus ring works effortlessly. Honestly even though it is manual focus, if you’re a portrait photographer this might be a better buy than the plastic fantastic nifty 50

Inaccurate post from a previous commenter.
A 50mm 1.2 with AUTOFOCUS is no way near the same price as this lens. That's a very very bad review from that person. Please understand what you are purchasing before rating it low and making uninformed statements about the product. A 1.2 aperture 50mm lens at this price point is well beyond fair value. Even if it is a little soft wide open. And autofocus versions are at least 2 to 3 times the amount.
