I myself would get fabric paint made just for fabric.

If I allow children to use these to paint rocks at my kitchen table, will I be able to wash the paint off my table?

When I got this paint on my wooden bookcase, I had a hard time washing it off with a damp rag. But when I used my fingernails inside the rag it scraped off easily with no damage to the bookcase. It may depend on what your table is made of. I had no trouble scraping the paint off metal surfaces, but I only got small spots on my bookcase.

Will they work on stretcherd canvas?

I haven’t tried them on anything but rocks. They are a nice set and work well.
