Samsung B350 S27B350H 27-Inch Screen LED-Lit Monitor

Pros; No heat. Bright. Super bright. HD and super clear. Colors are incredible. Cons; Sometimes it does this thing when I turn off my desktop and then turn it back on the screen seems to go into this flickering stage, just a simple reset of the power on the monitor fixes the problem until I happen to turn off my computer again. The glossy plastic of the base of the screen scratches easily.

I owned an Atec 24" lcd monitor and was happy with it, but when I saw the price of a Samsung 27" monitor LED on sale I made the purchase. I am very happy I did. The power consumption is a third of what my previous monitor was using and the picture is superior, sharper, brighter and the viewing angle is very wide. As far as other people's comments about the brightness of the monitor I use my Nividia video drivers to adjust the color, brightness, contrast, saturation to get a perfect picture.

I thing is for sure: editing pictures on a 27" display is much better. I'll start with one thing I don't like about it: the OSD control sensors. They only seem to react when touched in specific conditions. By the time I figured out where and how to put my finger on, the OSD window disappears and I have to start all over again. The good news is that the monitor comes with a driver/software allowing you to make the adjustments much easier, using your mouse. Be aware that it doesn't come properly calibrated out of the box! I used a Spyder4Pro calibration device to tune it and I got the following results: - 97% of the sRGB gamut and - 75% of the Adobe RGB/NTSC gamut Since I use sRGB on my camera and PP software, I guess I'm pretty much in a "what you see is what you get" situation. It has 3 gamma settings named Mode 1, 2 and 3. My measurements showed that Mode 1 = Gamma 1.8, Mode 2 - Gamma 2.0 and Mode 3 = Gamma 2.2 the response curves being pretty accurate. In the "Standard" mode was measured the following brightness levels Setting 0% -> 35 cd/m^2 Setting 25% -> 112 cd/m^2 Setting 50% -> 187 cd/m^2 Setting 75% -> 259 cd/m^2 Setting 100% -> 328 cd/m^2 Therefore the advertised brightness of 300 cd/m^2 is exceeded! On the other hand I got the following contrast results: Brightness 100% + Contrast 100% -> Contrast 810:1 Brightness 50% + Contrast 100% -> Contrast 760:1 Brightness 0% + Contrast 100% -> Contrast 380:1 Therefore the advertised 1000:1 contrast is NOT met! But it looks OK for my needs. It has also a few default modes measured as follows: Standard -> Brightness 170 cd/m^2 -> contrast 680:1 Game -> Brightness 340 cd/m^2 -> contrast 750:1 Cinema -> Brightness 336 cd/m^2 -> contrast 870:1 Dynamic Contrast -> Brightness 239 cd/m^2 -> contrast 2390:1 It has also a few other settings designed for various view angles I don't care too much about. I see that some other users observed the very high default brightness the monitor comes with. This is correct and I assume that it has been set like this to look good in a bright shiny Electronics store. For your reference, when used it in a dark room with only a desk lamp on, the calibration reduced the brightness to 25% With natural light, during the day, the optimal setting for the brightness is 40%. So if you want to be accurate you will have to define 2 profiles: one for evening work and one for the day. The calibration tool has a Profile chooser and this makes the switch between profiles simple. I wonder if this adaptation can be automated. Maybe in the high-end monitors. Anyway, I believe this monitor is good trade off between performance and price. All in all, I gave it 4 stars or: "I like it".

DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT! Do yourself a favor and BELIEVE all the negative reviews regarding screen flicker and the monitor just plain turning itself off. I actually had two of these monitors in my workstation at home. One worked fine, but the other had problems from the moment I bought it. I shipped it back to Samsung and they repaired it under warranty. It worked for a few months, then started to flicker again, and finally wouldn't turn on at all. I spent several very frustrating hours on the phone with Samsung only to have them tell me that the monitor was out of warranty and that I'd be responsible for all repair costs. A company that knowingly sells defective merchandise is bad enough. But, it's shameful when a company sells this type of product and won't stand behind it. I will never buy another Samsung product because of this experience.

Great picture but screen goes black after short idle periods and must be powered on and off a dozen times or more in order to stay lit up again. The monitor I am using now is a replacement unit and has the same problems as the first one I purchased. The first one wouldn't even start-up without going through the same effort and it flickered quite a bit throughout use.

I bought this monitor based on our experience with our Samsung 52" television (LN52A650A). Great picture, sleek design, etc. Amazon did their usual great job of shipping it to arrive on (or ahead) of schedule. When I initially set it up and the screen came on, I was very impressed. Great color, deep blacks, clear. Just what I expected. THEN I discovered when my computer would either be turned off for more than an hour OR go to sleep and then wake up, the monitor would not fully power up. The power power up briefly, flash the login screen and then turn off. While this was occurring, I could hear what sounded like a short circuit coming from the lower right corner of the monitor, in the general area of the touch activated controls. The ONLY way the monitor would work would be if I manually unplugged and then plugged back in the monitor to the power. This was a hassle I should not have to deal with. Searches on various forums showed that other users had the same problem. After I discovered this, I saw Amazon also placed a hold on new orders sold by Amazon. Interestingly enough, I had the same problem when I first purchased my television. A quick exchange to the store and we're still happy after 4 years. As far as the monitor tale of woe, I opted to try the Acer S271HL that was on sale at a local Best Buy for $269.99. After a few minor calibrations, especially with regards to the ATI Catalyst scaling, I was VERY impressed. Picture quality, overall material quality and responsiveness equal to the Samsung. Physical control buttons underneath screen take a little getting used to , but that's minor. THREE STARS as the overall quality and performance of the monitor was very impressive, especially for the price, but....if doesn't as it's supposed to, it simply doesn't. If you choose to purchase this item - run it through the process of having the computer sleep and wake up, as well as numerous restarts, reboots, etc. to test the monitor.

I buy Samsung for work monitors, home monitors, and for home TV. The B350 has most everything you would expect in a monitor, excellent picture and resolution, for a modest competitive price. I would buy it again.

GOT THIS FOR MY HUSBAND FOR CHRISTMAS.....HE LOVES IT! THE RESOLUTION IS GREAT AND THE SCREEN IS HUGE! WORTH THE MONEY!
