Decent friends to lovers
📚 Friends to lovers📚 Workplace📚 Planned pregnancy📚 Friends with benefitsMeadow wants a baby, and since she's newly divorced, she can't see it happening any time soon. So why not do it on her own? Except her best friend, Christian has other plans.Meadow and Christian are both strong characters and have a good foundation to start their relationship on, but I didn't see the easy move from friends to lovers. Initially, there didn't seem to be a strong attraction for Christian to move the relationship to more than friends, but once it did, Christian went from 0 to 100.Their story was very easy to read and a good summer read in between heavy books. Meadow and Christian both have strong family support systems, and Meadow actually had to deal with health issues when it comes to her mum, but there's laughs and humour all the way through.

Nice
This is a best friends to lovers, and it takes a while to get going. There’s no initial tension between Meadow and Christian, the best I can say is it’s all very nice. They’ve been friends for over 20 years and know each other very well. All the reader gets are a few hints that both of them may have thought about being more than friends when they were younger. The sub-plots play a large part in the story and I felt they had too much time. I wanted more focus on Meadow’s and Christian’s relationship. When they finally get to the crux of the story, the dates were nice and romantic. I wanted more of that budding romance, more of the pair together. On each date one of the guys Meadow’s mum tried to set her up with conveniently turns up just so we can compare them to Christian. (Cue eye rolling.) Then her ex-husband is suddenly on the scene, too. When they do start to have sex it’s nice, I’d say mid steam levels. How many times can I say nice in this review.? Once more apparently. This book is nice, but every aspect left me wanting more. I wanted more scenes with them together alone, more tension between them, more spice and heat, more originality in the plot. I know it’s romance and there’s certain things we expect, but this just felt dull.I also wanted less focus on her family, not all of it was essential to the plot, and less time describing minute details like exactly how she cleaned her floor. The way it was structured was also a bit strange. 90% of it is from Meadow’s POV, then we get 1 chapter from Christian’s POV. All I wanted was his perspective on what’s just happened, instead, it was a load of exposition about events from 20 years ago, most of which the reader already knew. After we reached the climax, it was an abrupt halt in the progress of the narrative that left me frustrated.I felt this story was more about Meadow’s relationship with her mother, than her relationship with Christian. So, I’d label this as women’s fiction rather than romance. My review of this book reflects my personal preferences, because in general the characters were likeable, and the plot flowed nicely. There were a couple writing issues that interrupted the flow a little, but nothing to make me want to stop reading. I just prefer the books I read to focus more on the relationship between the couple. You may enjoy this if you like fiction with a strong focus on family dynamics, particularly mother-daughter relationships with a romantic relationship running alongside. If you love your stories heavy on the medical details, plus hot doctors, this is definitely for you.

Excellent
The characters are full of emotion and suck you right into the story. I love how christiani and Meadow pulls the reader into the story and we feel we have a front row seat to the action, and feel all the ups and downs of the characters Surely such things as this only happen in dreams, when happiness is so complete that there is nothing left to wish for or hope for.

5 stars – It’s all about timing!
*eyes glazed over*Hi.Hi.Hi...*shakes head*Umm...*blushes*Whoops! Apologies, but I’ve been in a temporary romantic fugue state. Where symptoms may include (but are not limited to):Glazed expressionSappy smileDramatic sighsHeart palpitationsExploding ovariesI had all this, and a few more. However, I would definitely be heading into TMI territory *snorts* And, trust me, no one wants inside my head *smirks*Normal service shall resume momentarily...*whispers*I’m going to let you into a (not so secret) secret – I am the least romantic person you will find in RL. My gag reflex is alive and well, peeps! *points finger* That was you this time, not me. Anyway, we’re going off on a tangent (couldn’t resist). What I mean is, for a person ‘who doesn’t do romance’, I love nothing more than reading about it. And, I undoubtedly got my fix in this story.Meadow is surrounded by the love of family and friends, but for all this, they can’t give her the one thing she wants above all else; a baby. Or can they? Her BFF, Christian, sorry Dr. Christian, may have a solution. Totally swoon-worthy (lickable - whaaa?) and a nice guy to boot. I mean, this is the stuff dreams are made of. Now, don’t get me wrong, he is not without his faults, but I don’t think there would be many females who wouldn’t want him for themselves. Why yes *nods*, I am talking about myself *snorts*As they get *coughs* down to business, I vacillated between, “This is a really, really bad idea!” to (and yes, I was wailing at the time) “Aren’t these two the best couple ever!” Sheesh *palms face*, my hormones have a lot to answer for. This story was a winner for me from start to finish. As a relatively new reader to this author’s books (having only read her co-written work before), I fell in love – end of.Lastly, for some reason, I keep humming Love, *whistles* and Magic by Ciara ft. Justin Timberlake.*shrugs*Ahhhh, someone send help – stat!
