7520 PENCIL,MECH,CUSH,GRIP

Both the lead and the metal sleeve retract fully (with help from your other hand) into the pencil so you won't stab yourself when you insert it into your shirt pocket. This is a package of 6 (six) pencils. These are similar to the mechanical pencils sold as Sanford Logo 3, Sanford Logo 4, Papermate Logo 3, Papermate Logo 4. The bottom cone-shaped tip is plastic, not metal. The pocket clip is tighter so it may tend to wear out your shirt pocket faster. Also, the metal pocket clip is different from the current photo (June 2018). It has a slot cut in it (see photo). And it is now a bit flatter with a piece of plastic added to grab your shirt pocket. The finger cushion is smooth, not ribbed. 3 leads (HB ?) are loaded into each pencil. The included white eraser works fine but seems to crumble a bit more than the replacements that I recommend. For replacements, I recommend the Pentel Refill Erasers for Clic Eraser. Cut them in half to use in these pencils. I bought these to replace my old Logo 4 pencils that are not available any more.This pencil has some very nice features that are hard to find. They have a long twist-up eraser that is very soft and effective. They have a sliding lead guard that supports the lead so that you don't have to keep advancing the lead as often.I like to use 4B (very soft and black) leads, but they are very fragile and need a good eraser, so this type of pencil is good for that.The only negative is that the lead guard does not move smoothly - it sticks - and so sometimes you have to advance the lead manually just like with a normal pencil. If they could fix that it would be a 5-star product.

I bought a couple dozen of these to replace the discontinued Paper Mate Logo 3s. They are very well made, seem tough and durable, and are very comfortable.Tip: To replace the erasers, I use the "Pentel Refill Erasers for Clic Eraser (ZER-2)". Each on of these eraser refills is exactly the right width and more than twice as long as the ones that this pencil requires. I simply cut them in half and put one of the halves in the pencil and save the other half for later use.

So far so good. I have been looking for a replacement for the Sanford line of mechanical pencils and this is it.

These pencils are wonderful. They are comfortable, reliable, solid. They write cleanly, and they have great erasers. Good luck finding replacement erasers. I found the Pentel Clic Eraser refills would work if you cut them to length.
