Creepshow

The definitive Creepshow blu ray, but still overpriced as hell.
Creepshow looks better than it's ever looked by far and the new features are great. The audio on the other hand disappointed me. The 5.1 sounded really weak, like i could barely hear any dialogue. I turned it up a lot and still couldn't hear that well. Maybe a bad job on the encode. I tired multiple sound settings and nothing really helped. I ended up switching to the stereo setting and then it sounded great. Guess Creepshow wasn't meant to be 5.1. So again besides the high asking price it's totally worth the upgrade/double dip.

Incredible restoration of one of my favorite anthologies!
I remember watching Creepshow for the first time on cable tv when I was home sick from school back in 1983. I instantly fell in love with it and rented this movie on VHS many times throughout the 1980s. I picked up the first generation DVD sometime in the late 90s and was disappointed with the picture and sound quality. It wasn't much better than the well-worn VHS tapes I rented back in the day. I had kind of forgotten about Cheepshow until I discovered this version a few months back. I took a chance and shelled out a pretty sum to purchase this restored version and was very impressed with the picture and sound quality! The sound is crisp and sounds great on my 2 channel system. The picture is so clear it looks like it was filmed yesterday!I won't go into the stories. They have been covered time and time again on IMDB and on Amazon. They are great and made even more enjoyable on this bluray. There is even a booklet describing the stories and their creations. If you are a fan of Creepshow and are tired of watching the first generation dvd, spend the money and pick this one up! It's worth every penny!

One of the very best horror anthologies
This one has the creases and textures of a comic book. The tone is so right. The visual strategy, arch performances and edgy writing, Creepshow blends horror, comedy and pathos in delicious and satisfying ways. George Romero and Stephen King prove to be most effective collaborators here with marrying sensibilities . All 5 stories are accomplished in different ways, an eclectic mix of scares and macabre laughs. Often imitated, but never equaled and well worth your time.

A Must Have For Creepshow Fans
All I can say is “Wow”. They did an amazing job restoring Creepshow. It looks and sounds great. My friends and I were really impressed! It is worth the price for what it is included. If you love Creepshow or have the old bluray, you should really consider upgrading to this. A must have for horror fans.

Excellent collectors edition.
Creepshow is one of my all time favorite films. This Collectors Edition features a 4K transfer with over 2 hours of special features. (Just Desserts not included but can be purchased separately online.) It also contains 4 different audio commentaries. The picture is AMAZING! I've never seen it look so good. The colors are great. Deleted scenes are great. The documentaries are great. This would be a 5 star buy but for the audio. I had read reviews saying the 5.1 audio was a bad mix and the talking parts are hard to hear. They were right. The 5.1 is so hard to hear when they talk but then gets crazy loud for sound effects. I fooled with my settings and got it sounding acceptable. Best bet is to listen to it in 2.0 stereo. But still...the picture is incredible and has to be one of the best hi def transfers I've seen of an older film. Pricey but worth it. It also comes in a nice hard cover with a book about the making of Creepshow.

Over 9000 the best way to watch creepshow
I love this I don't care what people say about the music or anything the audio is good it's very remastered the 4k look of it is the best if you have the orginal dvd version or the orginal blu ray version I suggest replace those with this comes with commentary with scream factory when they were remastering this and the orginal people that were apart of the movie the book it comes with is how they made the movie some old posters that went up during the time it was in theaters it as a reversible box art with the comic design so I suggest this

A loveletter to the corny era of Horror
Let's just get this out of the way: in my opinion, "The Crate" by itself is worth the ticket price. All the stories have Cryptkeeper whimsy, but "The Crate" has FUN. A man-eating monster loose in a university, and a professor with a horrible wife and fantasies of murdering her -- that's just too ghoulishly good of a premise. I can hear the cackle of that cryptkeeper puppet already.Shame it starts with "Father's Day"...which is kind of a misfire, leaning too hard into corny at the sake of any real logical horror to be afraid of. But it then slowly but surely builds up to beautiful money shots, from Leslie Nielsen chewing scenery as a murderous husband on the beach to cockroaches bursting out of every surface...every surface. Oh lordy.

A horror film from the mid 1980s.
This film follows four different main stories with a skeleton like figure telling the stories then it goes into them itself. It has some good gory moments in the stories and great special effects in it, not like what you would see in a science fiction film though. It has a lot of comedy elements in the stories added for the humour.

Video nasty fun
I'd not watched this movie since the video nasty phenomenon of the 80's but I did enjoy rewatching it. Yes, it has obviously dated enormously, but the animation still holds up and George a remero's direction is terrific. In fact the mixture between live action and animation actually still feels brand new because you just don't see it anymore. Some of the other effects, such as the monster make up, are incredibly lame by today's standards but this is still well worth a watch or a rewatch. As for the cast, they are clearly all having a great time, I knew I recognised that young boy but I had to google search it to realise it was a young joe hill (awesome author and son of creepshow writer Stephen King, hence the joe King credit here). I would've given the movie an extra star 30 years ago but it still gets three stars from me today.

Creepshow (1982)
Stephen King (screenplay) and George A. Romero (director) discovered they had a mutual love of E.C. Comics as kids and decided to collaborate on a project that would serve as a homage to the comic books. What eventually unfolded was Creepshow (1982).In total there are five tales and a wraparound story. Each tale begins with a comic book storyboard panel that fades into film. So what do you get once you have purchased you ticket for The Creepshow? The wraparound story features young Billy (Stepehen King's son, Joe Hill), whose Creepshow Comic is confiscated by his abusive father (Tom Atkins). After calling his comic book ''rotten horror crap!'', Billy's father goes downstairs and opens a beer, feeling satisfied with himself. Upstairs, The Creep appears outside Billy's window and the boy clasps his hands together and grins ...... so begins the first tale:Father's DayNathan Grantham is killed by his own daughter; she had suffered years of mental abuse and her father had also been behind the murder of her boyfriend. He returns as a hideous corpse, exacting revenge on the entire Grantham family. This zombie tale stars Ed Harris. The Lonesome Death of Jordy VerillBackwoods hick Verril (Stephen King) witnesses a meteor crash-land into his own backyard. Before long the entire property is turning green and Verril has to fight for survival against an alien plant life. This segment is based up the Stephen King short story, Weeds.Something to Tide You OverAnother zombie revenge story featuring Ted Danson and Leslie Nielson. The latter plays a wealthy, jealous, and unhinged husband who buries his wife and her lover up to their necks on a stretch beach called Comfort Point, his private beach. But the tide has a way of returning the past. The CrateA university custodian discovers an ancient crate that has been chained up for over a century. Inside is a bigfoot-like monster. College professor, Henry, has been subjected to years of humiliation from his overbearing wife, Billy; his only solace is a weekly chess game with fellow professor, Dexter. Is it now time for the creature to feed ... and Henry to finally sort out his wife? Starring Hal Holbrook, Adrienne Barbeau, and Fritz Weaver..They're Creeping Up On YouA miserly millionaire businessman discovers his supposedly germ-proof apartment is infested with cockroaches. His selfish and ugly deeds - past and present - come back to haunt him as he battles the relentless army of bugs. Stars E.G. Marshall (Tommyknockers). And so the curtain is set to close on The Creepshow. But before we leave the auditorium, lets return to the wraparound story where little Billy has taken up the art of voodoo. He is going to ensure his bad tempered father never throws away his comic books again ...So what's the verdict? Five brilliantly written and directed short tales, top notch special effects (having Tom Savini at the helm), a great musical score, and first rate acting. There is now a 2-Disc Special Edition (Universal Pictures UK) that has great sleeve art, and extensive commentaries and documentaries; the picture is crystal clear along with clear 5.1 sound (there is also a Blu Ray equivalent available). The team behind Creepshow - King, Romero, John Harrison (music), and Richard P. Rubinstein (producer) - would all return to work on Tales from the Darkside: The Movie (1990), original intended as Creepshow 3.Buy your ticket now ... you won't be disappointed!

It is okay.
This early series of shows by Steven King and George Romero is good for its age, I have seen many films based on SK's books, and with one or two exceptions I am not impressed.
