Light Keeper Light Fixing Tool

This is the best! Just buy it! Forget the reviews!
This may be the neatest gadget that I have ever purchased! I keep a prewired, prebulbed, collapsible 7 foot branch-frosted tree in a pull-up bag in the spare room closet. This is its' second Xmas debut. This year, a week after Xmas, one of the strings went out. My housekeeper told me about this thing on sale at Walmart. She checked but no inventory left. I found this, thank God, on Amazon. It is so easy to use. Now, the enclosed directions are somewhat over-whelming, but, the videos at the website simplify the whole process. For example, I tested one of the bulbs from the dead string in the slot on the device, and, found that it was OK. I then plugged the open socket of the string into the port on the device, and, pulled the trigger. Now, the web-site instruction videos say that you may have to pull the trigger up to 30 times to get a response. I pulled once and the string came on. I found the bad bulb in question and am up and running (even though the tree is bagged and stored). Here is the magic (and, there are two alternatives, if needed). The bulb has a filament, and, a shunt, or, connecting circuit bar at the bottom. If the filament burns out, the chemical coating on the shunt at the bottom is supposed to melt and close the current to power the rest of the string. A lot of these shunts just don't work. By pulling the trigger, the 3 pre-installed batteries in the device send a charge through the system to melt the shunt coatings of any dead-filament bulbs. All the good ones light up and you get to track down the dead ones. The gun comes with spare bulb components. I then checked the whole tree and found three other dead bulbs. Who was to know? The instructional videos point out that one, two, or, three dead bulbs will cause the string to have to absorb the extra constant flow of electricity. The more dead bulbs, the more juice the rest of the string has to distribute, and, the quicker the string burns out, and, rapidly at that. See what I learned! This device would be cheap at 3 times the price for the amount of labor and headaches that it saves. Frankly, it is so unique, I'm surprised that the price is not dramatically higher. Nice to see somebody in the USA who is not out to gouge middle/lower income America. Thanks, guys.

Amazing little tool
Like many others I had a Christmas tree that was prelit with a strand of lights that were out. This little tool worked with one click. Made it easy to find the bulbs that were out. It even had the bulbs in the replacement kit for me to use. Even though I paid a little bit more money than if I could have found this in the stores it was well worth it. I don't have to hide the unlit section of the tree in the corner or string up additional lights for a prelit tree.

Almost a Christmas Miracle
This tool does exactly what is advertises. My half-dead icicle light sets were brought back to life by inserting a vacant bulb socket into the tool and pulling the trigger several times. This forced all the shunts to work and the entire light set was illuminated. Then, the dead bulbs were obvious and I replaced them. The bulb tester is great! My only failure was a 4' x 6' set of net light for bushes. The bulb sockets didn't fit into the holder on the tool. I defaulted to Alternate Method D and stuck the electrical plug into the tool and pulled the trigger. Magic! It worked. One of the sets could not be fixed. I guess there were too many dead bulbs.

Great item !
It made finding the lights that were bad really easy to find instead of taking them all out.

Great utility tool for fixing lights!
This tool is everything is advertises to be. It's multi functional. I fixed a Christmas window light that I thought was irreparable. And to think of all of the holiday window lights I've thrown out over the years that I probably could have brought back to life with this tool.

It Works!!
I was a little skeptical when I purchased but this was extremely easy to use and worked on first try. Saved a large lighted reindeer display that had string of lights out. Highly recommend.
