It is, and it is wild‐crafted in the ocean. Not ocean‐harvested. The skinny kind everyone likes is ocean-harvested chondrus crispus but it's hard to come by. This stuff is not pool-grown like some other reviews say. That is the common misconception among sea moss. There are 3 types. Ocean-harvested, wild-crafted and pool-grown.

I don't know, but I'm assuming they put it there bc this stuff stinks and was a little wet and some mold.. My bags had holes in them too. I've purchased from others and there were no holes.
