Slade are back !
43 tracks of hits and lesser known songs proves the longevity and versatility of Slade from 1970 to 1991, they were the top selling British band in the 70's and were successful almost everywhere in the world except America. The USA finally took to Slade in 1984 when Run Run Away was #20 and My On My #37 in the singles chart and the repackaged CBS album Don't Take Your Hands off my Power Supply was #33. The heady years from 1971-1974 in UK included 6 #1 singles, 3 topped the charts on day of release, 3 #1 albums plus Slade Alive which peaked at #2 in UK but stayed on the album chart for 12 months. Slade were a fantastic live band and carried on touring after relocating to America 75-76 to return to UK in the midst of punk! I saw Slade a few times in the so called wilderness years 78-79, they blasted Reading Festival in 1980 and Monsters of Rock 1981 to complete an unlikely comeback. In 1983 My Oh My was held a #2 although Slade were denied a #1 single 10 years after Merry Xmas Everybody with the way the Xmas chart was compiled back then. This double cd set shows that Slade were more than a glam band or one trick ponies, Jim Lea and Noddy Holder were far better song writers than that and are shockingly overlooked these days.

Cum on feel the quality
Excellent value gatefold cardboard sleeve double CD with every Slade hit there was with 43 tracks altogether and bearing in mind if you buy the vinyl version you only get half that so a bit disappointing if your a vinyl lover like me. This has put me off getting the vinyl version in the first place. This is a much better sound quality than the last Best of Slade we had back in 2005 and it covers every hit there was not leaving some out. Noddy Holder is one of the best strongest vocalists I've ever heard and certainly one of the loudest, Bon Scott came very close to him. Slade are one of the best rock bands of all time on stage they sound as good as they do in the studio and that dose not happen with a lot of artists. Slade are still around of course but not as good without Noddy. If your young and just discovered Slade for the first time also check out Slade in Flame, Alive, Slayed and Old New Borrowed and Blue they made music to last and I for one who have seen them a few times with Noddy and been a fan for 50 years now still feel the noize as well as the quality of great music. Here is the full track list (see photo).

Simply, in a word... "GREAT!"...
As per title! A GREAT collection of known and lesser known (by the majority) tracks/songs. Superb value for money. I'd HIGHLY recommend the albums: 'Slayed?', 'Alive!', 'Slade In Flame', (my joint favourite) 'Whatever Happened To Slade' and for those that want/like/prefer the more commercial side, 'Rogues Gallery'.One of the most (BEST) underated (by too many) bands of ALL time in my opinion.
