Vauen dr. Perl 9mm Paper Filters for Tobacco Pipe - 1 Box 40 Filters

The Dr Perl filters do trap a lot of moisture and particulates leaving a smooth dry smoking experience. However, they do not have a tight fit in the pipe stem. While advertised as 9mm, in fact, the diameter is only 7.9mm. This loose fit does allow amounts of smoke to bypass and go around the filter in the stem. Note: the Dr.Perl filters have a single central hole through which the smoke passes, the draw is unrestricted, whereas the Dr.PerlJunior filters have an array of small holes through which the smoke passes resulting in a draw that is slightly more restricted. All in all, I do slightly prefer the Dr.PerlJunior 9mm filters.

Sometimes simple is best. These filters are high quality paper and do an excellent job of wicking moisture and improving the draw on my Tsuge E-star pipe. Better than the Big Ben filters that came with my pipe. Oh. And the flavor is noticeably better.

I was not at all sure about these when I ordered. Having tried filters that came in pipes over the last 40 years, I was not a fan... but finally broke down and tried these - and they're exactly what I want from a filter. They don't appreciably alter the drag, provide a nice, dry smoke, and keep the pipe a LOT cleaner. Will be back for more! (Update: 11/22/17 - AM in fact back for more. These are the ones to get, imho. I won't bother looking further unless they stop making these. No better praise.)

SO, if you're into smoking a pipe and you want filters, look no further. That is exactly what you get with these bad boys. Fit perfectly into my 9mm pipe and collected a lot of that nasty stuff i don't really want in the deal recesses of my inner workings. I change mine out about every three bowls and they are usually pretty grimy on the way out. But if you like all that manly shiz in your lungs and throat, go ahead and pass on these awesome filters.

Have not tried a carbon filter. They must be good. They are priced through the roof. Thus I'm only giving a 4 to paper. Nothing wrong. Just leaving a little wiggle room for the magical filter.

In my opinion, these are the best 9 mm pipe filters on the market. They fit the European pipes that use 9 mm filters, very well. They are absorbent, cool the smoke and do a good job of filtering the smoke. It's a simple paper design that works very well.

There's a lot in a pack. they soak up well, fit just right.
