Terrible, very salty with the spines and bones they were difficult to eat, even though after I washed them. End it up throwing them away

Excellent! If you like anchovies--SO useful in certain sauces, etc.--these salt-packed ones are so much better than the neat, but slithery oil-packed kind, you get much more for your money, and you can use the juice in the tin as well. Here's how: with a very sharp knife, cut off the tail and the area just behind the head. try to cut each anchovy lengthwise, so you have two fillets. remove the bones by scraping and, if possible, scrape away the dark innards. lay the fillets in a small, rectangular, lidded box and cover THOROUGHLY with olive oil. Keep in fridge. Top up olive oil now and then to keep the fillets covered as you use them up.

In cookbooks I have read many recommendations for choosing salted anchovies over anchovies in oil. Finally, I have a true salted product, instead of anchovies in a salt solution. The cookbooks were right. The salted anchovy has a wonderful flavor (I have liked anchovies for years) and it is good to rid them of all the small bones, although this does require a few minutes of my effort.

Even a big fan of these for years. But the most recent purchase contained only small fish. They were fairly mushy and the salt pretty goopy. I guess anchovies are getting overfished like so many other fish.

Really, really poor quality.

Very high quality fish which taste great and are easy to filet. Having bulk salted anchovies on hand is a great thing for a cook like me, because I can rinse and filet a couple anchovies and throw them into just about anything and my family and guests love the flavor. Just don't tell people you are serving them anchovies.

This is an excellent product but the size is falsely stated by Amazon as 2.2 lb (1 kg). According to the label the container is actually 1.7 lb (0.8 kg). You can see this weight on the label in the image on Amazon, so the problem is Amazon itself, not the seller. Amazon list multiple sellers for this product and they are labeled correctly. Only this one is mislabeled by Amazon, not sure why.
